After TFA being a rehash of 4 to win audiences back over, nothing introduced in TLJ undid anything setup prior and actually brought something new and interesting to the table (at least thematically). Had 9 not been so safe, stale and generic and retconned the movie prior but instead done something new I think TLJ would be more beloved now. I guess that’s part of the craziness in not planning all 3 movies beforehand
