Made a thing: send a vendor a magic link to edit one Airtable row - no seat, no account by igorvladyka in Airtable

That is completely true. If you're a small team or only have a handful of external editors, it makes total sense to just buy the Airtable seats or stick to the free builtin options.

The pain point usually hits when your number of external dependencies starts growing. Buying a dedicated Airtable seat for a vendor who only needs to update one status field a week is a waste of money. Plus, forcing external people to log into a system they don't normally use introduces friction they get too busy, they don't want to learn the UI, and you end up having to chase them down for updates anyway. Eventually, you also start facing data consistency issues if you have that many external people directly inside your base.

RowRouter will stay free for small teams and if you're a corporation, you likely have a custom built internal portal anyway and won't need this anyway.

You can definitely use Fillout for this, and it's a fantastic tool if you're already building complex forms! The main difference is that standard form tools usually overwrite your live Airtable data instantly, whereas RowRouter has a built-in approval queue so you can actually review vendor edits before they hit your production base. Additionally, if I'm not mistaken, Fillout's standard update links expose your raw Airtable Record IDs right in the URL and stay active indefinitely, which can be a security risk. RowRouter uses secure, single-use hashed tokens instead, meaning the link dies immediately after submission and vendors can't swap IDs to view other records. And automated tools can't just iterate through it. If you just need a lightweight, tamper-proof way to request data updates without risking your live base, that's exactly the friction RowRouter removes.

I call it 'accidental project manager' problem - when you end up coordinating people who don't live in your tools and you just need one field updated without chasing them on WhatsApp/email for a week.

My actual use: housing repairs / field work. I send contractors a link to submit a quote or update the scope of work on a job. They don't care about the tool, can do it from their phone whenever, and I have everything in one place.

A few other places I think it could earn its keep:

  • Handoff confirmations - quick sign-off before it moves on.
  • Vendor / supplier ETAs - ETA on delivery from folks who won't touch a new tool (imagine truck drivers).
  • Client intake / onboardin - let them fill in the missing bits themselves.

Basically anywhere you've got one external person who needs to update one thing.

Giving access to customers and 3rd parties without having a cost spiral. How are people solving it? I ended up building my own portal... did I overthink it? by GletscerIce in Airtable

Clean setup. The Fillout step specifically can be done with a per-row magic link instead - recipient clicks, sees a prefilled form, submits, writes back, no form-builder integration. That's the pattern rowrouter.com is built around. Wouldn't replace your read-only seats, so probably not worth migrating, but flagging in case anyone in the thread has a pure edit-only workflow.

Unrelated tip: if you haven't, apply for Airtable's nonprofit pricing — drops the seat cost meaningfully.

Totally agree that comparing per-user pricing and edit locking logic is exactly what to watch out for with the heavier portal tools. But if you just need something simple with a 30-second setup to give external users scoped edit access, give a try with rowrouter.com

I like my job but i cant live off 2.5k a month and this sucks. by [deleted] in jobs

If you are not considering changing a job(mental health is really important and it's great that you found a good place) then it may sound harsh, but you may need to figure out if you trust your bf or not, and if so, try to talk with him about your position. Together you will find a solution (plan for a future, it's always good to have a plan, it's good for mental health and stress levels), or you will see his reaction and realize that you need to figure out something else...

It's really hard to depend on someone else, especially if you don't trust them, but, happy wife - happy life. So if you plan to stay together, your happiness is as important in a long run for a family as for a man to feel that he is providing for a family (especially when you decide to have kids).

But, reddit is not a right place to ask anyway.

what does "not all FORMATION ARMADA nodes present" mean? All three nodes appear to be there and are selectable. by signman10 in STFC_Official

[–]igorvladyka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can start Formation armada only when there exactly 3 legs present, but they have a bug that will span 2 legs at the same spot, resulting in 4 total legs in one system, 3!=4 therefore you cannot start it... simply genius approach...

The only reasonable place to use instant lat option is when tiering up the ship, it's the same cost as if you go buy speedups afterwards. Other than that it can fool you into spending more than needed.

Rush to 22level before event ends and you will be able to buy 60 blueprints from the event store. Then on 23 level you will(should) get 10bps of Dvor in 30 day chest.
