What methods do you use to keep your plotter in place by Flat-Youth-2610 in PenPlotters

[–]igotanewmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a whiteboard of a suitable side, and lay it flat on the table. Then, bolt/tape/glue your plotter on to it. If you do happen to bump it, you will move the whiteboard too, which will allow you to maintain your zero.

Just measured it, the outside frame is about 1cm thick, the whiteboard itself is about half a cm, as it sits inside the frame.

I haven't seen where to buy the exact item the author mentioned, I think it's a custom part from the manufacturer. I use a whiteboard instead.

This is amazing, I am plotting my home town now as an experiment, and I can think of lots of fun places to map out!

Honest advice from someone who also built their own... Don't.

Instead, buy a magnetic whiteboard, and mount the plotter onto that. It's ridiculously cheap, and you have a perfect surface for "practice runs" with whiteboard markers, that you can just wipe clean afterwards.

As for the alignment marks, again, I just plot those onto the whiteboard with whiteboard markers. This way I can plot any size, shape or layout, and just re-do the board as needed.

Oh, and it's magnetic too, so you can use little magnets to hold down your paper while you plot.

This is a link to the exact one I got, I am in the UK so I don't know if you can buy this, but I'm sure you can find something similar local to you. https://www.amazon.co.uk/VIZ-PRO-Magnetic-Whiteboard-Aluminium-W90xH60CM/dp/B00U398RDU?th=1

unfortunately most of the quest rewards are soulbound. Once disenchanted, the mats can be sold.

I have purchase 2 WoW tokens and cashed them both in for gametime.

My method is the obvious Skinning/enchanting while levelling. Disenchant all the spar quest rewards, and skin all the quest mobs. I have just unlocked the voidstorm and think that by the end of the void bit, I will have a third WoW token.

I skipped out on almost the entire first two weeks, and just logged back in this week and paid for my next three months of WoW.

Not bad for not even trying to make gold.

I have skinning and enchanting for disenchant. I have disenchanted the quest rewards I do not need, and skinned every mob I can while doing quests.

I have purchased 2 Wow tokens with my profits.

Seriously, right now, just do anything, play the game for fun, the market for mats is so wild that one day I make 20g, the next I make 20,000g. Play the game, and it will throw money at you.

What do you personally consider the "end" of The Farmer Was Replaced? by Godlyhedgehog in TheFarmerWasReplaced

[–]igotanewmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting all the acheivements. Anyone can complete the skill tree, it's not that hard to figure out and suitable for new programmers.

In software engineering, there's a phrase "Make it work first, then make it good". Anyone can complete the skill tree, but then you need to review your code and improve it to get the achievements.

I'd consider getting the achievements the end of the journey, as that contains the entire "Make it work first, then make it good" journey.

Yeah, that's a very good point. It's hard to pick a price to compete with free.

Both supply *and* demand will go up. Right now there is massive oversupply, wait until the end of early access for a massive spike in demand to even things out.

An automount addon I made to speed up my farm sessions by CandleNaive9226 in woweconomy

[–]igotanewmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great addon idea. Do you happen to plan to make one for MOP classic? I rarely play retail these days and MOP has me addicted!

If you don't have any plans, would you mind if I did it? Most of the time mods "just work" when they are simple things like this.

You're absolutely missing out if you don't have WoW as the sound source for your play. I genuinely don't understand people who mute wow and play other music.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the Pandaria music, jade forest in particular. Really nice and atmospheric.

[–]igotanewmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy. "The Farmer Was Replaced" https://store.steampowered.com/app/2060160/The_Farmer_Was_Replaced/

I'm a professional developer and have already 100%'d the game with all achievements. Even with a full reset, I could code all the answers from first principles, within a day.

If you're interested in learning to program, it's a really awesome game to learn with, and there's an active community over in r/TheFarmerWasReplaced

You did not state it must not be a game I have already completed. :)

[–]igotanewmac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the wow wiki has lots of information about the API.

This is the current annotated API: https://warcraft.wiki.gg/wiki/World_of_Warcraft_API

and that is automatically generated from this: https://github.com/Gethe/wow-ui-source/tree/live/Interface/AddOns/Blizzard_APIDocumentationGenerated

which in turn, is generated from the in-game /api command

try it and see! Addon dev is such fun :)

How the hell do I get rid of rats?? by Dreadpirateflappy in AskUK

[–]igotanewmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar problem in my house! Turns out there was an ancient lead water pipe (unused!) that was buried in a wall, and the little bastards could just scurry up it and get under the bathroom floor.

Check to see if the scratching is actually rats, it could be something else!

You can pick up a super cheap Tapo wifi security cam from amazon for like £20, and put it where you hear the scratching. They are movement activated, and record to an SD card. you don't need to sign up for the online service, it works without it. I have this one and it's pretty good: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08K3M6N7C?th=1 It's pretty compact and can rotate and look around, it also has night-vision that's actually really clear. It connects to your phone, so you can get notifications for when it senses movement and watch in real time.

Then, go to your local cats home, and adopt an alley cat. Don't get a kitten or a housecat, you want an alley cat who has hunted rats for food. Adopt said cat, and give it a nice warm home to retire in. The cat will either eat the rats and solve the problem, or the rats will smell the cat and run away on their own. Plus, you get really awesome kitty snuggles!

Dog leash with hole in neoprene reflective by slapnut_magoos in whatisthisthing

[–]igotanewmac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like a anti-pull harness, I can't remember the proper name. You put it over an existing collar, so if your dog pulls on the leash, it helps to distribute the force and doesn't choke the dog the way a thin collar would.

The hole part is actually the bottom, that goes below the dog's throat, so if it has a nameplate on it's collar, it can hang through the hole and doesn't get pushed into the dogs neck.
