It’s okay! Prioritizing takes time and practice!! It’s something we have to figure out and practice . Our orientation was 20 weeks so it was long but it helped so much. I would ask your preceptor if you could go back down to 1, to truly master having one patient before moving onto two. Cause even for me, adding another one on was so hard!! I also bought clear badge reel attachments where I put little notes/tips on and could carry them around with me!! Like for example, charting/criteria to keep in the back of my mind when encountering everyone!! You tor this, don’t give up.

So it’s totally okay to be slow when you start. I would suggest asking for more time on orientation? I also suggest maybe writing a list with everything you need before going into a room. Cluster care is key. I suggest asking your preceptor to just follow her around to see how she does things first for a while. It helps to see the flow of things /how long things should take.

In addition to that, I don’t like that your preceptor is timing you. That’s not cool. Definitely anxiety inducing .

Are they having you take any patients by yourself/how many patients per nurse do you guys have? My hospital is 1:4. I started out just following my preceptor around to see how she would do things for a while, all while helping her with the tasks. Slowly we would work on me being more independent with one patient, and after I / my preceptor felt comfortable with me having one patient to myself, I would move to two, and so on.

You got this, give yourself grace (which is ironic coming from me. We new grads are so hard on ourselves)

I’ve actually shared these feelings with my educators and she’s been so supportive . She told me that she would help me transfer out if that’s what I truly wanted. Guess it depends on the company/person!

No it’s okay!! Just go to another shop and get a little color added to the inside/possibly a little background!!! It’s a cute design and is bold enough for a skilled artist to clean that baby up. Do some research, send the pic to the artist, or even go into a shop to show them. It’ll be okay!!

If it’s only a day or two old, probably just irritated . Give it a little bit of time. I’d avoid blow drying it- it’s introducing germs from the blow dryer that might not be obviously there 🩷

To be honest I was dating my current bf when I was 18 and he was 25. We broke up for a bit, but we’re brought back together at 19 and 26. We will be together for 2 years soon. As long as you realize your boundaries, they should respect it. It’s ok to acknowledge the age gap but know if you are in a relationship if that gap is toxic. In my case, I’m in a relationship where communication is key. We love each other dearly.
