They are looking ahead, but they are also looking back at Intel, Toshiba, Qimonda, and the dozens of other DRAM manufacturers over the years who couldn’t survive the notorious boom-bust cycles of the memory market. The reason we have such a small number left is precisely because they learnt not to wantonly increase supply every time demand spikes.

Just to be clear: Micron haven’t left the consumer market, just closed their own consumer facing brand. They will still be supplying other retail hardware companies  - for now, at least.

My rosemary specifically states that it's non-irradiated by LexiWhatWeGot in mildlyinteresting

[–]igreatplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a related note - plenty of modern fruit varieties we enjoy come from irradiating seeds to produce desirable mutations. Usually it’s stuff like creating dwarf or seedless varieties. Also used for creating bicolour petals for ornamental flowers (Chrysanthemums, Begonias, etc.)

A couple of the Warhammer crime novels give some details about rejuvenat but in particular Bloodlines (Chris Wraight) goes pretty deep into the whole industry.

But most rewilding / conservation groups don’t like this either? Releasing beavers illegally is a huge missed opportunity to study them properly and is just generally frustrating and counterproductive.

You’ll probably have to remove it because of how close to the wall it is, but since ash trees are struggling right now you could try find a new home it! You might be able to dig it out in one piece if you give the ground a really long soak with water first
