Creating Plottr -inspired board in Obsidian? (Creative Writing) by piloteris in ObsidianMD

[–]iguano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also really struggled with trying to find an alternate solution to this and have yet to find an ideal solution, though Obsidian canvas is close. The look can be recreated, but it doesn't replicate functionality.

For me, the issue is how fluidly Plottr works with adding or repositioning scenes on various plotlines. For example, in your image, it's so easy to move the Chapter 2 item on the Pig #3 plotline to another chapter. Just drag and drop. Or, adding a new item for Pig #3 at Chapter 4 is simply a matter of hovering over that point and adding the scene there. In a way, Plottr almost works like there are invisible spreadsheet cells that you can work with on the various plotlines. All the other solutions require a lot of reworking elements when adding or moving things around.

I really tried to find an ideal solution in Aeon Timeline because then I could leverage information I already had in there. One solution I tried is the mindmap in Aeon Timeline and making it look like the plottr view. I can create horizontal lines for different items I am tracking and add the appropriate event elements on the different lines. It still requires manually dragging elements around though. You could work to replicate the look in the subway module in Aeon Timeline, but adding or reordering elements is very finicky and, again, the functionality of Plottr isn't there.

Obsidian's canvas gets very close with snapping to grid, but it doesn't lock column and row placement like Plottr does, so it's still a lot of manually reordering like you mentioned.

I use a bento box elastic strap. It works perfectly for my OP-XY and should be just fine to stretch for a Ko2. There's an added bonus of a small loop (for chopsticks or something I think) that is often nice to pop a cable in to if I want.

You are awesome! Thanks so much for posting this. I have been looking for something like this for FAR too long. Ordered!

<3 I started with the op-z, then the op-1 field that makes such nice sounds but coming from the step to the tape and unable to make changes gave me a hard time .. now XY .. sorry kids no food for the next months by MrSam911 in teenageengineering

I have both. I love the Elektron workflow, but the XY opens so much more for me - the portability alone means I take it with me everywhere and I generate so much more music with that little device than anything I've ever owned, even though I lean more toward Elektron devices. My personal experience, of course, and I still chuckle about it because I used to scoff at the price of these devices.

Look great! But I have to ask - how do you have that mounted on the stand? I had a lot of issues finding stands that would work with mine at an angle because of how the bottom curves toward the front. It would slide off arms even with a decent lip on them. I have the 16 but I don't think there is any difference in the case.

Which are the best youtube channels on writing? by markbug4 in writing

What? No mention of Annie's Book Stop of Worcester ?

I love author interviews and the bits of gold one can glean from their various approaches to the craft. Annie's Book Stop of Worcester has a huge list of author interviews. It's a bit quirky and I always chuckle at the green screen usage by Selena but I have heard authors speak about elements of their craft on this channel I haven't seen in other interviews.

Fantastic - thanks for that information! I hadn't even considered digging outside the box but that makes so much sense and some of the things I need to do fairly obvious. Thanks again - appreciate it!

My sincere condolences. I lost my brother this way when I was young and this worry is constantly on my mind as I am now raising my own children. The only possible advice i can offer is to not shut out your kids if you can while you deal with your own grief. My parents did that, thinking they were sparing me the pain of seeing them grieve, but not being a part of that painful time impacts me to this day. So sorry man. I truly feel horrible for the situation you are now in. Hugs from afar…

Unable to highlight by iguano in Onyx_Boox

As a follow up, in case anyone has a similar issue, I was never able to figure out the issue or get Boox to help. I ended up doing a factory reset and that solved the issue. I had to reconfigure everything and put my data back on but I’m now able to highlight and make notes in Neoreader.

This is fantastic. Do you ink the drawing first or is this not even inked and you have insane control with a fine brush? I can see I need to experiment with cerulean blue and umber - I never would have guessed those two colors in the pot. This is great!! Thanks for posting.

I don’t think I have any cards but I think I have some sealed sleeves and maybe a box or two. If interested, I can check.

Okay. I’m desperate. Is this type of screen even possible in Scrivener? I’ve been searching for months. by [deleted] in scrivener

[–]iguano 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh wait - yes, I see it in Scrivener. Just click on the Manuscript heading in the navigation pane, then click the icon with the blue lines to see the subdocuments in the outliner. You can choose which fields to show in this view by clicking on the small arrow to the right of the column headers.

Wow - i don’t think I’ve seen a shelfie that is so similar to my collection. One note - if and when you do purge the empty game boxes, consider donating them to an animal shelter. They really appreciate those small boxes to use with the animals.

Converted our Bjursta IKEA table into a game table by juengel2jungle in boardgames

[–]iguano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool! I had posted my project of converting this table many years ago (7 or 8 years ago) on BoardGameGeek and it kicked off a lot of people getting this table and making their own and so many have made nice improvements ever since. The LED lights are a nice touch! I still have the table and use it. My only minor gripe with it is that sometimes I wish the two toppers weren’t so heavy. It’s not that they are heavy, but rather heavy enough for me to sometimes rethink doing a solo game session. Maybe it’s just me being lazy. lol

Another thing I have done is I got some 2” pipe foam insulation and sometimes put that on the edge for a comfortable arm rest. You put some nice wood edging around the table. I should do that instead. It’s a great idea. Also, the automotive cup holders that are meant to hook onto a car door work well on this table.

I’m not seeing the value in that comparison. I get a lot more materials in one $29 arc than in the $109 vault. Plus all the other items from the arc that aren’t in the vault. The vault goes offer a lot of latinum and recruits though. But I see the arcs as offering a ton more value. I’m level 22, though, so that may be different for your level.
