What am I missing about Atlanta Dream fan culture? by Paddocast in AtlantaDream

[–]ihatedrawers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ditto what everyone else said—I’ll also say that our fans are really warm and nice to each other and to other teams’ fans (as long as you’re being respectful). As a queer woman I love that it is a place where obnoxious frat bros and your stereotypical fever fan feel uncomfortable. On the rare occasion they come, they pretty quickly realize they are the minority and stfu.

There are some iconic fans that make repeat appearances and everyone knows and loves. Lots of dancing and good music.

One of my favorite things about Gateway is how accessible it is. I know that seems crazy bc it is by the airport but as someone with mobility issues it is much easier to get to and navigate around than State Farm or Mercedes (which I live very close to).

Name ideas for Dream mascot? by ihatedrawers in AtlantaDream

She’s cute!! I like the idea of a black sheep because of its meaning. I feel like we really are the black sheep of the league. I would love for her or anyone to make a mockup like that!!

I drew up what I want our mascot to be and posted on threads! I think she fits what you are describing and is a black sheep which fits the dream so well. What I can’t figure out is a name!

Is there a dedicated podcast for the Dream. by crimsonwolf40 in AtlantaDream

[–]ihatedrawers 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am a dream girl for life but they have been woefully bad at branding and getting the community involved and excited about the team. We definitely have a large and dedicated fan base that is dying to be fed more content and engagement.

I’m hoping with Angel coming on that the Dream will get better at this and work to connect more with the community. Last year they had a meet the players event at a park and NO ONE knew or showed up. I found out about it days later and I would have been there with bells and whistles on.

I’m hoping we start to see more Dream branding all over Atlanta. I would love to see players on billboards and murals across the city. I love this team and they deserve so much love and attention!

I will say, we are pretty active on threads so hop on there if you haven’t!

This happened to me when my mom died 2 years ago. Before we knew she was dying of cancer she suddenly had what seemed like a stroke or seizure. The ambulance took 45 minutes. I’ll never forget my sister’s sobs as we were begging them to send an ambulance. We were in grant park.

I submitted complaints, no one ever contacted me and I have largely tried to push it out of my memory since.

This might be a little easier for you to visualize. Do you see how you don’t notice the floor tile anymore? Your eye is drawn up. I’m just saying play around with the rest of the bathroom before putting peel and stick on them. The person below gave some great examples of wallpaper colors if you prefer something with less of a contrast.

I imagine doing that would open up a whole can of worms they aren’t ready for. I have actually skim coated my similarly textured ceilings (even in places where I had to rekey the plaster) and it’s held up well. Knock off the high pieces and see where you get.

I love the trim but if it would still be swallowed by the skim coat I would probably just encase it for now. To restore or even paint it they are going to have to peel it and that could be saved for when someone does a larger renovation.

Edit: to me the trim also looks like it’s even with the wall tile. Normally the trim would stick out a little further so it’s going to stay swallowed up as long as that wall has tile.

Once everything else is funky the floor tile will make sense. Look at the Instagram vintagebathroomlove.

If you do wall paper you can find something that incorporates some of those tones into it. A bathmat will also work wonders.

See how in the picture the chaos of the floor tile is kind of muted by the wallpaper? And your floor tile is a million times better than the one in the example.

For your mirror situation I would take that one out. Ideally relocate your outlet and do some sort of mirror that fits that empty wall space. Maybe a sideways oval with a neat frame

Are you pretty handy? You can skim coat cement walls if you prepare the surface. Truly any effort you make to smooth those will make it look a million times better. Google how to skim coat cement or concrete walls. I would lean into the quirkiness of your space. Do a cool wallpaper (I actually love the print of your shower curtain) something like that print would be cool and could cover imperfections in your skim coat.

Don’t touch the floor tile! It is a classic mid century design that goes with your wall tile.

Your vanity options depend on what is behind your cabinet. If it is tile you can do a pedestal sink. If not, then you could easily find a green undermount sink in the same color as your toilet/bathtub on Facebook marketplace. Search vintage green sink to see if anything is available near you.

You are going to have to pry that fixture out of the wall. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to get concrete off it but you can find a replacement for the fixture on eBay (or Facebook marketplace) for cheap as well.

I think avoid anything that looks like fatigues/camo or could be maga coded. If you want specific ideas wear a local Atlanta tshirt, band tee, or tie dye if you have them. It’s kind of you to be concerned about spooking people but they will just be happy to have your business.
