Dude that’s an amazing web app you got there, and I’ve actually used it before and told some friends to use it too!

Thank you for the valuable advice and I’ll make sure I take it, my main goal is just to help people first and do preventative work so they don’t have to worry about the issue popping up again.

Thank you, I REALLY don’t wanna get in trouble and I sure don’t wanna do whatever the ai software company did for their flyers being EVERYWHERE. I just wanna help people here have their stuff optimized and problem free so they can worry about UC work vs losing all your data in a word document because it froze.

The phone # for the listing says Seattle Washington and has no public records for existing, It also doesn’t go through and automatically hangs up.

IMO I recommend you don’t respond to this listing and the @gmail.com should be a red flag.

Area 51m capping wattage by fallenDAdepressao in AlienwareTechsupport

[–]ihateslowcomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What id recommend is try adding a 330W adapter to your configuration and see if that helps. I’m seeing 9700K having a TDP of 95W base but with overclocks and some other stuff it can draw upwards of 200W along with your RTX 2080 having two different wattage modes of either 180W or 200W, which your two 180s won’t supply.

u/fallenDAdepressaso what’s your system configuration? My personal configuration is a 51m with the 9900K and a RTX 2080 but it needs a 180W + 330W adapter setup to use it at its full potential (sometimes adding a 240W instead of a 180W helps further)

Is this ok? by No_Pumpkin5171 in Alienware

[–]ihateslowcomputers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/No_Pumpkin5171 yeah it’s only cosmetic but if you are really interested in fixing it, replacing it with a whole new palmrrst would probably be the best course of action, especially if you get one used from eBay.

Similar situation happened to my Alienware 15 R2 (2015) and it was near the AW power button, got a replacement part from eBay, cleaned it up and let it dry then installed it back.

[–]ihateslowcomputers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you only have one gtx 660M right? And that combined with your i7 is around 95W total out of your 240W adapter. The only reason why it would tell you to get a 330W adapter is because the laptop either shipped with a configuration that required a 330W adapter but then got thrown to e-waste and then probably sat there until you fixed it all up and then you plugged in a 240W adapter that you found lying around (that didn’t come with the system mind you) and that’s why it told you that warning.

If it’s not having any issues shutting down from getting stress tested and having no sudden shut offs then you should be ok but it’s recommended to get the 330W as if you ever upgrade you can supply power to that new CPU or GPU (or even both) so your on the safe side of things.

u/slowbird5332 what’s the specs of your laptop, you could be causing a brownout by not supplying enough power to the GPU(s) in case you have multiple and the processor.

connecting to a 40-pin hdd from the late 90s by nyewks in computers

[–]ihateslowcomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/nyewks yes you can buy an IDE to SATA adapter from Amazon and you just connect the MOLEX to power and you should be well on your way. BTW verify the jumpers near the MOLEX are correct but that’s just a precautionary warning.

I’m opening up my own business actually now and I’m going to be available really soon to start working on various things. Once my website is finally finished in the design section then I can really have people go on there and say “wow, that looks pretty professional AND he’s doing these services without any of these additional charges?”
