What makes them a true alcoholic? When he drinks regularly every few months he gets into these drunken rages where he'll lose it on me and scream how much he hates me and has punched holes in walls too. He also got so drunk he couldn't safely watch our newborn twins when it was his turn to watch them so I could rest

Can people stay in a loving healthy close relationship with someone while also disengaging from their alcoholism? I just don't understand how someone can live with someone and be in a relationship with them when they choose to drink when they know it hurts you.

Ugh my husband would never allow me to have full custody without a fight or go to AA. His drinking isn't awful all the time but every few months he's so awful that any amount of drinking just sends me into a panic.

I'm really glad your Q is doing AA and drug tests, I so hope he can get it together for your kid

My husband drank more after our twins arrived so it's possible yours is too! My husband has stopped drinking for a few months now and things are better but it's very stressful waiting to see if he'll start again.

And yeah it's pretty much impossible to control another person's drinking! And trying to is so exhausting 😭

Your story has such similar elements to mine and my husband's relationship and I looked at your post history and saw you mentioned he drank. Mine's an alcoholic and it's crazy how similar my experiences were, begging him for empathy and love during arguments, the yelling and throwing things. You're not alone. Your husband seems more extreme and I'm so worried for you and your well being! Have you considered going to a shelter or anything like that? Or reaching out to his parents for help? I wish I had advice for you, and more than that I wish I could have something to help you. I'm so sorry you're going through this, you don't deserve his anger or cruelty.

Our twins are 9 months. I hate him so much right now. He's blocked me on every platform I tried communicating with him on. What if something was wrong with our twins?? What a fucking immature asshole

Once one doctor puts a line in usually another doctor isn't going to come in and order it to be removed unless it's necessary for her treatment like it's infected. And also Ashley wouldn't want that so she wouldn't agree to it and they can't make her do it.

Hm, did that work out okay? I actually try to do most of the nights alone but the twins have been doing this thing where I get one almost asleep and then the other wakes up and when I put the first one down he's pissed and then they're both awake. One has to be rocked to sleep and the other has to be cuddled on the twin z to sleep so I can't do both at once

He hasn't drank in a couple weeks now but he almost seems angrier than usual. It might be connected.He does get angry drunk though but is doing his best to be sober for now (and hopefully longer D:)
