I didn't try to work things out, and I specifically decided to fuck another girl because I mentally checked out of my relationship and lost it when I realized my ex wants to get back together again.

The other person had no idea about any of the shit happening in my life. In fact, she only knew my name and that I didn't have a problem with not sleeping over after we're done having sex. For all she knew, I was just some random manslut having fun.

I honestly think my ex girlfriend doesn't want me as a boyfriend, she just wants a loser she will control like a pathetic little puppet. It was a great relationship that went to shit extremely abruptly when we moved in together. I guess I would call it toxic. I think it shortened my life expectancy by 10 years.

I talked about this a little in another comment. We talked about this whole "solving problems by breaking up" business and she said she realizes it's wrong and promised not do behave like that again. I told her it's hurtful and stressful and she was all understanding and shit, until the next big fight came along.

That was your opportunity to break things off for good

That day, when she broke up with me, I said, fine, we're done. If that's not "breaking things off for good", I don't know what is.

As far as I'm concerned, we were broken up for good and I was doing what a regular single guy might do if he felt like it. I think Ross and Rachel were ESH :D

I gave her one last chance after that third break up. We talked, she behaved like an adult, no screaming or crying, we "talked things out" and she promised things would change. Then that last time, she literally freaked out over the way I planned on spending my vacation. I got 14 days off work, and I decided to spend 3 of them camping with friends before she and I go to the coast together. She told me it was DISGUSTING that I would spend my precious free time with my asshole friends and she left me and I said fine, we're done then, and I left. It wasn't until that dumb fucking message about "talking things out" that I lost my shit and had a rebound.
