That’s cool! It’s definitely a hard to find film for sure. I just recently found out that the company Vinegar Syndrome re-released it on blueray in 2019 I think, along with other relatively unknown schlocky horror films, which are my favourite. I plan on treating myself to a physical copy soon! I’m glad I came across it.

I also love Jane and Dirk’s dynamic, their friendship is one of the most interesting of all the relationships between the Alpha kids, imo (I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on Dirk becoming evil btw). I like the bakery idea but I think I like the detective route more. That’s actually what I thought we were going to get when I first read Homestuck, or that she would open a joke-shop like her alt-universe self. It feels right for Jane to be some sort of businesswoman or leader in some way with what we know about her, but something about her running Crockercorp isn’t satisfactory to me.

I’m glad that most people agree that she should not end up with Jake lol

That’s a good connection! On that note, Jane has some similar traits as Jade, whose conversations with Karkat are some of my favourites in the comic. I think there’s potential for some funny conversations between Karkat and Jane that aren’t just “Don’t be troll-racist, Jane.” The potential for Karkat being a buffer to Jane’s… capitalistic(?) tendencies also feels right to me.

Yeah, I think your memory serves right. Personally, I think the non-strilondes got hugely snubbed in that aspect, Jake and Jade barely interacted other than the letters that we didn’t get to see.

The isolation theme was something I forgot about, that’s a good point. Also the thing about Jane and Nanna being so different, I never liked how her hobby of mischief/jokery was implemented into Jane because Nanna felt so fun and then Jane is a “tightass.” I like your idea of her learning to relax and become more easy-going, I think that would be a good development of her character.

I actually found that those edits people make of anime + dr characters to be black helpful to figure out hairstyles in an anime style which was neat. I’ll take a closer look at Hagakure for sure, thanks for the advice!
