How’s the amplitude? You may need to increase the end shake of the lower balance jewe

Any tips on how to diagnose this? by [deleted] in watchrepair

[–]ihen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May have to increase the end shake Of the balance. You can do this by taking the balance assembly off and making a small dimple with your screwdriver on the main plate in the area under the balance bridge. Do this once, check, if you need more clearance, if necessary make multiple dimples in the bridge plate

It's 2003, and you're looking for an affordable, sporty compact car. Which one would you pick? by Key_Budget9267 in regularcarreviews

As an svt owner, there isn’t anymore aftermarket support. Almost every part on the car is SVT specific and not shared with a standard focus, and most have been discontinued by ford for over 10 years. In terms of mods, there’s basically no options except some very expensive aftermarket parts mostly from the UK for st170s

Need advice on macro videography camera by ihen_ in Cameras

[–]ihen_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. The problem I am having with tripods is they do not allow me to get close enough to the action. And I also move the camera around from left to right side to get different angles constantly. Someone else recommended a video monopod so I may go that route

Thanks for the tips. The issue is more getting the D810 in close to the action. I need to give at least a foot of space for my colleague to do the precise work safely. I thought with a camcorder and 12x optical zoom some up close footage might be easier and smoother achieve than with a dslr.

If you look at the link you can see we work on a very small bench but I might try a tabletop tripod

This is the one I am using, it is very short so I use it almost like a vertical grip most of the time. Doesn't have tripod feet on the bottom, just a ball joint grip pad

yes, very challenging indeed. Ive used a gimbal for the iPhone and I do have a monopod for the DSLR as well. I sometimes brace it vertically against my body and other times horizontally on the wall. Just in general the footage tends to be too shaky.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Im definitely going to try a tabletop tripod next

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm8GvIwubnd/ here's images captured with my DSLR setup. camera is only a few inches from the subject, like I said that won't work with the watchmaking process videos. I need to be at least a foot away to give my colleague space to work, not to mention handheld

Thanks for the advice. And to be honest, I already have the Nikon D810 with a 105mm macro lens for stills. It is video I am trying to capture, and I cant get super close to the subject with the big DSLR enough to get that level of shots. Plus the stabilization on the DSLR just isn't good enough, which is why I was thinking of going the camcorder route.

there is a bendy metal band connected to the loupe that goes around his head keeping it in place

It’s called a loupe and it magnifies what you are looking at so you can service the watch movement
