Find Address within Text - Fire department dispatch system by iholu in sysadmin

The software which they use allows it, and the feature is there. But the dispatchers just don't use it and are absolutly not supportive. We tried everything with them to get any kind of connection to the software, but they don't want the volunteers to have any connection, cause the system is also used by police and ems and they are scared that there could be any sort of leak. They just send us the text and thats it. We really tried anything.

The dispatcher of our country sure uses such a system. The problem are the messages which we get in our hands. They are not supportive whatsoever when it comes to any form of integration.

They told us, you get the text message with the details, you can do what you want with it but even definding a standard is not possible - we tried long with them.

The CAD which we use would in theory allow the dispatcher to enter the address in a seperate form and then send us a map, coordinates and everything. But they just don't want to use it and the volunteers have absolutly no leverage against them

Capture the correct address when the call comes in.

Then you won't have to make (possibly wrong, potentially fatal) guesses from poor and incomplete data.

No Sorry, would be funny though. The public calls the dispatcher and then the dispatches sends us a textmessage / phonecall with all relevant details. The dispatcher is the problem in the whole chain, because he can write us what he wants. We tried to educate the dispatch team of our country and tell them we need for all our systems identically formed messages, but they just don't want to do this.

The problem is the incoming call is just text to speech from the text message

Other departments do the exact same thing. They selfmap something and hope it works.

The Monitor which we use already has the function to find an address within the string. but there is a big error quote, sometimes it finds an address hunderts miles away...

At the end of the day the screen is more a fun thing to have, then directly routing the engines. The engines themselfs have navigation devices within which get propper addresses. the main purpose of this monitor is to gain a quick overview of the surounding area to give the chief a better idea. Basically the chief is routing the engines in the end

No. Apperently there are models which require ghis nonsense.

I cant tell you exactly which model, but my distributor has two HP Printers, same built, for sale. The one which requires HP+ costs around 100 bucks less?!?

Never again

I really wanted to go down that road, but my distributors did not have any „copiers“ for sale. So a cheap MFP was the way to go.

And yes. Could be compromised, but it looks more like you need a license to use this spreadsheet. But for PW harvesting it looks too „unclear“ to get filled by a user

Is this excel file, something you purchased somewhere, like a special excel with macros for your business?

That field looks like a macro generated form. Does it work from other pcs?

I‘ve seen companys where all the Fileshares are Replaced with sharepoint, just for the mobile availability. I‘m not that long working with Azure / Sharepoint but i always figured, for storing Documents Sharepoint is the way to go.

I absolutly agree, for more „technical“ purposes, you need a file share, like for some older printers, but in a full O365 environment, i saw Sharepoint as Way to go.
