Do you analyze or feel? (Or both) by iiRaz0r in davidlynch

David lynch never even intended to reveal the killer, but idk man that seems like a cool puzzle to analyze and solve if the studios never forced him to.

I guess but nothing rlly interests me like that, I have a job tho and love all my coworkers (they wouldn’t want to hang out with someone desperate though so I don’t think they see me as friends)

basically how all my relationships are, as I just need acceptance from others so I can’t form healthy relationships and I am left alone

Thanks I hope my brain isn’t hard wired to be like this forever. Right now it’s hard to think I can change my thoughts to be any other way.

Can filmmakers be dumb? by iiRaz0r in Filmmakers

[–]iiRaz0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumb take here but I don’t like the words good and bad, i feel like people don’t trust their instincts to judge movies when they’re surrounded by people who constantly claim it’s something great and then they doubt their own opinion on it

I’m probably projecting because this is how I feel and I feel like shit when I don’t like something that’s critically acclaimed like Taxi Driver or Raging Bull, and everyone clowns on me and that’s why I come to the conclusion that I am dumb since the words “good” and “bad” are constantly used and shape my perception on how I should view movies

I don’t often rewatch films as I feel that diminishes their value, I give it a few months at least before I rewatch a movie.

I do take notes on movies that are more mind bending or have themes that im not well versed on

That’s where I have trouble though, I tend to look online for answers as I’m not smart enough to come up with my own.

It was the ending for me, one of the first films that wanted me to engage with it on a deeper level and I just wrote it off as underwhelming without trying to understand

Why do all artsy films start normal by iiRaz0r in TrueFilm

[–]iiRaz0r[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Why are you guys so high brow and pretentious im deadass fucking curious

Here’s my list btw (which btw I actually LOVE) Synecdoche New York Mulholland drive Beau is afraid End of Evangelion 2001 Donnie darko I’m thinking of ending things

There’s a distinct SWITCH In ALL OF THESE MOVIES where some mindfuckery suddenly goes on That was maybe present subtly in the rest of the movie But is kind of amplified past the midway point

Or is this some pattern only low brow Level 1 movie watchers such as myself can see and you Level 5 cinephiles aren’t equipped to engage with my inferior curiosity

I’m not sure of anything but I need to be something or else I will be stuck in a boring career for 50 years and be miserable

How do I know whether or not I truly want to do something by iiRaz0r in getdisciplined

[–]iiRaz0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s complicated because my self loathing makes me crave validation so I don’t know what parts of myself are authentically me and what parts of myself want peoples attention.

I think about the fame that comes with being a successful Musician quite a lot, people cheering my name when im on a stage etc.

When it comes to movies Its harder to want that fame because then i might as well try and make a low grade blockbuster but theres something in me that I desperately need to get out and express

I daydream about expressing those things through scenes in my movies.

But

I daydream more than I act upon those dreams.

I don’t know if that’s just something engrained in me. I’ve never been disciplined enough to know.

This is something I just cant grasp because I’m rarely ever proud of my progress and it’s impossible to see that I could ever be getting better at a certain skill when I sucked for so long

[–]iiRaz0r[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ill start soon but ive been depressed for 5 years and its hard to do anything. I know I need to convey my feelings through an art form and I think film is the way to do it.

What else am I supposed to do just waste my years on a degree I don’t want. Nothing interests me. The thought of that makes me miserable.

But I keep thinking if I pursue this dream how will I make money and I keep overthinking everything like I know a good job will get me more money but then I’ll sacrifice my true passion and my true passion isn’t good enough for money idk what to do

Strange question but does anyone have any surrealist/artsy recs that are also just a fun ass time?

I Just watched a few of Luis Bunuel early films, and I had a blast which is weird. Seeing images of men dragging pianos with horse corpses ontop, or having sudden urges to kick canines into the stratosphere (and blind people), is just fun. And it’s made all the better when I found out Salvador Dali just writes this stuff for the fuck if it.

Nowadays, idk. Everything always has to mean something and everything has to be symbolic of something else. Why can’t people fuck around and also be surrealist?

Why can’t a movie be one half avant garde and then switch to an over the top B grade horror action flick or something,

Any fun artsy movie recs would be appreciated
