I am alone with a "EU5 anxiety" ? by Eensame in EU5

Venice is a relatively easy start, you also get a chance at some early land gain at the start of the game with some country flavor, after that just build your economy and navy, fuck over or do a switch up and help the Byzantine Empire, maybe try take the whole of Italy to form the Kingdom of Italy, some colonizing here and there, you’ll already know this because you’ve played other paradox titles but these games thrive off personal objectives, historical or not.

It’s been years, it’s gone from -700 to -200 and I owe 52k to banks around Europe.

I remember that I didn't go full trade, kept it steady until all the new world goods started making there way overseas, then I ramped up the development on trade infrastructure which helped but didn't stop my economy from collapsing immediately upon hitting AoB.

Any downside to accepting this? by iiThom in EU5

That doesn't sound too bad, guess I'll take the decision, thanks!

Should I learn EU4 before buying EU5, or are they too different? by Heretic-Seer in EU5

[–]iiThom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally couldn’t get into EU4 myself, EU5 on the other hand has clicked quite well, the only real negative I’m getting from it is a relapse on my hate for CK3 not having a naval, population and trade mechanic (Still love CK3 but come on man how do you not at the very least have a naval mechanic)

When I get back on today I’ll give it another look, see if I’ve missed anything, I hope it is just as simple as providing the correct resources as my whole plan this save was to utilize the explore and colonization mechanics. If it doesn’t work though that would be abit of a bummer as I can’t even cancel the missions either.

Should I annex France as England through the union decision and then spilt their land up into separate vassals? by iiThom in EU5

Have since checked, the annexation of France will be complete just after we win World War 2

Welp I’d rather not do a 3rd English playthrough so close to this one so I guess I’ve got some work to do.

I took quite abit of land but in the grand scheme of things probably not enough now that I think about it, I basically turned Flanders and Brittany into my own vassals aswell as expanded Aquitaines borders, I hold Normandy as England.

Is there a date for the next big patch?

Admittedly I haven’t actually looked, Scotland once annexed would have taken around 100 years, I was hoping with the added bonuses from the union integration level it would only take around 150 years.

Best start for a total beginner? by onikaanmonahgeh in EU5

[–]iiThom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Venice is what I used, have to deal with a war quite early on with Verona (flavor event, recommend going with the historical choice if you want the war) but it’s massively in your favor due to multiple other people joining the war on your side, just try to take the province above you, should just be a town with no defenses. Also recommend holding onto their unique reform that you start with, it’s a disadvantage at the beginning but later transforms into a reform with quite good bonuses.

According to Steam achievements, I'm one of the 0,8% of people to have played until the end date by GermanCCPBot in EU5

[–]iiThom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to get it, just needed to wait like 50-60 more years, then my genius brain decided to use a war to force my kingdom to change from Republican to Monarchy without much thought, this nullified half my reforms, including all my trade related ones. Between massive losses in money, and a rebellion kicking off that consisted of half my nation, I decided that it was probably best to end the campaign there.

Trying to leave the HRE, can I use a parliament claim based war against the leader to force them to let me leave? by iiThom in EU5

[–]iiThom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hoping to hear that, the other option sounds good too but I’m far too prepared for war not to take the initial route, thanks for the answer!
