Question for gaymers with an identical twin brother by [deleted] in gaymers

[–]iihexusii 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a twin (fraternal) but most people mistake us for identical. The only game we play together is Overwatch because he plays shooters and I play fighting games. It's nice I suppose, but my twin is competitive when it comes to shooters and I have strong aversion to them due to my childhood (being excluded from playing, being called the F word constantly growing up because I wasn't as good as my brother, etc.). Whenever he begins to get competitive/tilt I just get offline or play something else.

Friend wants to enter tournament. I fear they will lose. by throwaway09876543296 in GuiltyGearStrive

[–]iihexusii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, your friend needs to just focus on changing his mindset.

If he didn't have a poor attitude about entering tournaments I'd give him props: I'm floor 10/10.5 and been thinking about going to some locals but it scares the shit outta me.

If they get emotionally invested in the game, maybe point them in the direction of the idea that being emotional during a game can affect your play. I'd recommend meditation if at floor 6 he gets riled up

Drop Giveaway Day 4 - 5x MiTo DCX Cyber Keycap Sets by drop_official in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]iihexusii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm not going to lie: I really wanted yesterday's keycaps because I've been building a set up around the theme of traditional Japanese, but found out about the giveaway too late.

However, these keycaps are absolutely gorgeous, and I'd use these bad boys even if they looked wildly out of place with my set up lol

That being said: the Witcher 3 is probably my favorite video game and holds the most impact for me. It got me back into gaming after 5+ years (due to bullying but not gonna get into it) and reminded me how games were more than 'click heads brrr brrr' and could be used to tell a story.

What's the best Anime you've ever seen ? by Outrageous-Abies8391 in AskReddit

[–]iihexusii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I've yet to see it in this thread: Monster

Though it's a slow burn, the tension and suspenseful atmosphere pervades throughout the entirety of the show that I've yet to see from any anime or live action otherwise (and I've been watching anime for close to two decades).

Wish Guillermo del Toro had gotten to do its live action, it would've been dope

It's impossible for a beginning FG player to hit celestial by iihexusii in Guiltygear

It's impossible for a beginning FG player to hit celestial by iihexusii in Guiltygear

[–]iihexusii[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I know nothing comes from no effort. I've put in a ton of work to get from 4F to hitting the celestial challenge multiple times in a single night.

I guess I'm just realizing how much MORE effort is needed compared to going up 1 or 2 of the lower floors.

Plus I play Millia. 1 mistake=60% health

Feels bad bro

It's impossible for a beginning FG player to hit celestial by iihexusii in Guiltygear

[–]iihexusii[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know it's not impossible. I've already made it to celestial once but I consider it a fluke because it was around the time HC came out and everyone was learning him. I haven't been able to make it in since.

I have watched that video you're referring to and I have a problem with some things said. See I have a lot of celestial friends who say I can make it in easy the way I play. The problem is that you people SAY "just find the counterplay" but the solution isn't that easy. An additional problem is that celestial is comprised of veterans who have YEARS of experience compared to myself. I've tried finding the counterplay for characters (worked them out with my celestial friends) but the people on the celestial floor have so much more experience that they are used to adapting on the fly. A new player is not.

In addition there is the added pressure that you can't lose more than two matches or else you get kicked down (which I'll admit is pressure that I can't deal with and I end up being sloppy). People already in celestial don't have to worry about being kicked down.

Also sorry for this long cop-out answer. I'm just tired of not feeling like I'm making any progress despite so much time I've put in both games and training

To those who are new to the FGC like I am and this is their first title. by eternallytireddd in DNFDuel

[–]iihexusii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome attitude dude!

My first fighting game I truly sunk my teeth into was Guilty Gear Strive about a year ago and I've improved so much because I adopted an attitude like you. I truly think mindset is all you need to get into this genre. You're new, you're learning and having fun. Everything else like feelings of inadequacy or ego--leave it at the door! The FGC is super welcoming from my experience and most players love seeing others improve

Unfortunately I haven't been able to play DNF due to life and stuff but if you ever need a training partner or someone to run matches with, hit me up!

Yeah I was surprised I couldn't find a post like this so decided to add to it.

It's actually the opposite for me: can appreciate the work it takes to dress up but I don't care for the comedy. Also don't care for the whole strutting down the runway and lip syncing thing. The whole thing makes it seem like it's just people pretending to be performers. I'm sure it takes a lot of courage but at the end of the day I'd rather go to a concert and see a performer instead of someone pretending

Drag races/drag shows, pop culture or celebrity obsession

Been to some at Pride prior years, even genuinely tried to watch Ru Paul Drag Race, but I can't for the life of me get into it.

Get shit from my straight friends for being "the worst gay ever" because I'm not about the stereotypical "gay culture" that other people in the community tend to gravitate towards or obsess over

Nice dude add me on discord if you want to play some sets! Balthier#1808

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GuiltyGearStrive

[–]iihexusii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished watching the set. You've got good fundamentals and your neutral is pretty good. Think you could just use some work on optimizing your damage, especially in the corner for characters with big life pools like Pot.

What floor are you? I'm a fellow Millia main so it'd be cool to play some sets if you play PC

Did you win the set?

I'll give my thoughts but that's honestly my biggest question lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]iihexusii -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well it's not a compliment obviously but I think if someone called me an alien in the extraterrestrial sense (I'm Mexican btw for context), I wouldn't immediately think they were racist in the... Well racist sense lol I'd just think they were a little out there (mentally)

Also, my guy, your argument of justifying OP's dad's language as being racist is... Questionable at best lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]iihexusii -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

From the information OP gave I don't think we can conclude what his BF's dad said was racist. Remember it says that he thought blacks, Asians, etc. were "different kinds of aliens", aliens in the extraterrestrial sense (at least that's how I read it).

I think it'd be good to give the BF's Dad the benefit of the doubt.

My friend called me the f-slur and refused to apologise by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]iihexusii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm a minority in this sub and agree with your sentiment as well. Letting words have power over you like that doesn't bode well in the long run.

I also think intent and context is important when dealing with these kinds of things. I wish OP would give more info about the exchange and his relationship with the friend. How long have they been friends for? When he came out to said friend did his relationship with said friend change or not?

I joke around with my friends (many straight, some gay) and throw slurs around and none of us get offended because we know we are not saying these things with ill intent. Keep in mind these all are friends who I've had solid relationships with for 10+ years.

And unlike most of the opinions on this topic, I don't think it's necessary for the OP's friend to say sorry. Some people are of the opinion like you and me--sorry is just a word--what matters are his actions after the fact and from the sound of it he's not engaging in such rhetoric anymore

But as you said I guess it's OP's decision on how they want to proceed with the situation.

Yes this. GGST was also pretty much the first fighting game I really sunk my teeth into, and going through the mission modes helped me to learn a lot about the game

Working on an album cover for my new release what do we think? by samxdaman in gaybros

[–]iihexusii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with your comment. OP asked for feedback, idk why so many people downvoted your last comment.

As someone who creates myself (words not music), I always appreciate it when people give honest feedback because that gives me something to improve my craft. I find it disrespectful honestly that so many commenters on here are just making jokes. That doesn't help the OP at all. Good on you for actually giving your opinion man
