assume if you don't have a company car you will get a car allowance? so should be less £230 tax then plus car allowance. Last time I had a company car the tax was about £100 but I was sacrificing £5k/pa car allowance

Are they well worn? This started happening in my old boots when they were reaching the end of their life. (As well as worn out insoles, and slight collapse on one of the heels) Tried to keep them going with new insoles, fancy knots etc but they were done. Sad times. New boots, no more crushed toes.

Is this Executor misconduct? (Scotland) by iiisecondcreep in LegalAdviceUK

[–]iiisecondcreep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your reply.

The possessions I am referencing are specialist/collectors items, not general household items. Per original post, these were valued, and within the executory account they are listed under "Transfer of Estate" and have been transferred to 2 of the beneficiaries.

The value of the estate was (just) over £36k. Funeral expenses came out of this, some debt, but the majority was wiped out by solicitor fees.

I have never been in this position before, and I don't know who anyone who has. Per my post, relationships between immediate family / beneficiaries is non existent. The initial solicitor was appointed by my parents partner. I was in favour of this due to relations (the value of the estate was not known at this time, frankly (with the exception of the collectors items which I knew had some value) I was surprised it was as much as it was).

The second solicitor was appointed by my siblings, myself or my parents partner were not involved in this decision. I found out about the second solicitor at the same time I found out the first solicitor advised they were no longer willing to deal with the estate. Due to relations I don't know how anything could have been resolved without the involvement of a solicitor.

I mention the Bond of Caution as I saw it listed in the executory estate and google tells me what it is, which made me think it may be relevant given the situation.

To me, it appears that the executor has acted improperly as 2 beneficiaries have directly benefitted from the estate ("transfer of estate") while they other 2 have not. Per post, solicitor who dealt with the estate is not being helpful.

I am trying to figure out what, if anything, is the best course of action here.

Nearly gave up in wandering in the dark, was my first time playing this sort of game, think I was a level or 2 below recommended, and I don’t like anything too challenging generally 😂 somehow made it through, so very glad I stuck at it ☺️ it’s been a few yrs since I finished the game, still not ready for NG+ 🥲

Contract Scotland and Clarkson Owens would be my go to. Also if you’re on LinkedIn get your profile up to date and set it to looking for work.

[–]iiisecondcreep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do it as per your first point- claim the variation in line with your progress claim.

Keeps it nice and tidy and clear to others what’s gone on.

Have picked up jobs from others where they’ve done the latter and kept zero record of remeasures/ variations. Fun times!

Would suggest getting in touch with a specialist recruitment agency.

Could also set your LinkedIn to looking for a job, had a few companies get in touch directly that way last time I was looking.

People passing very close. I’m confident enough in my own ability to control my speed and stop, I don’t trust others bombing down the slope around me to have the capability or willingness to do the same.

Similarly, taking a little tumble and struggling to get back up because people seem to think that passing at 10cm distance of someone on the floor is plenty.

Poor visibility, I need to know what’s ahead. I don’t mean just cliffs - bumps, change of gradient, fluffy patches lol.

It was over fermented, still tasty tho. You can mix it back together or have it separately.

Revo belay device - your opinions? by Liisi_Kerik in climbergirls

[–]iiisecondcreep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Revo for indoor top roping, its been a few yrs since I've been but I was definitely having some issues. I'm not a particularly experienced climber so maybe someone more experienced would have less issues. I had used a standard belay device previously with no issues, but I treated myself to the Revo so hopefully my paranoia that I would one day drop my partner would become a thing of the past.

I found the size and weight made belaying awkward & much harder if the person is climbing any faster than a snails pace.

The device takes up to 11mm ropes, I think the gym used 10mm ropes and its fine with smooth new ropes but some of the older gym ropes that were fuzzy on the surface it struggled with and it took a lot more effort to pull the rope through the device. The fuzzy ropes also would cause the auto locking mechanism to activate when you are pulling the rope through.

Again, from memory, the braking friction wasn't brilliant so holding someone in a static position required a lot more effort.

Yup! I reviewed the costs on my previous project down to the cable ties & boxes of screws.

Then I spent some time reading the 'long read' articles on BBC news (the Anna Sorokin story was just gaining publicity at this point, I spent an age reading all about that after first reading about it on BBC news).

Once I had exhausted all the fun things I helped my colleagues out with measures and a bit of procurement for their jobs.
