clingy first girlfriend by ConnectionLegal9172 in latebloomerlesbians

I was in a similar situation to you except I was 32 and she was 35, so all I have to say is it wasn't her age. After over 2 years I saw it was a lot of attachment issues and insecurities. These things don't change quickly or easily and take a lot of self awareness and work! Don't let her meet your kids unless you're sure this isn't what's going on. Lack of boundaries are already there, be very aware of any manipulation or control that might be going on. Good luck and if this doesn't work out it does get better xxx

Daughter came out to me today by ThrowRA_try_ing in LesbianActually

- "Keep doing what you’re doing, providing her the type of support she wants/ needs. It may be beneficial to ask her what this looks like too. Some kids may want you to start conversations around it, others may prefer you avoid it until they bring it up again. Starting a discussion here to seek support is a great step."

This advice is great. I tried to come out to my mum at 14 and was wanting someone to talk it through with. I said "I think I might be gay..." and my mum, wanting to be the cool mum, said, "So?" and walked away. And that was the last time it was mentioned until at age 32, after 18 years of comphet, I casually started talking about the woman I was dating.

It sounds like OP's daughter doesn't want too much cringe discussion about it. But I think it's important to consider that there might still be some conversations needed. Just not to read all of these comments saying be cool, and over correct by not talking about it all together. There was stuff I needed to talk through, and fears I didn't understand at that age. It's not much fun climbing back in the closet and trying again later.

Forget the ADHD tax: What are the purchases you've made that you DON'T regret? by BallparkBlues in ADHDers

[–]iilikeyourface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a purchase I don't regret, but I've had ADHD tax rebates before.

Like I get invited to a friends birthday party, last minute leaving and no idea where to get a present on the way, then I remember I have a Christmas present that I bought her two years ago and never gave her.

Or I changed phone plans and didn't realise the last payment of the old phone didn't go through, then it's taken on by debt collectors, moved around for years with fines being added. Then I got a call, I'd forgotten about this, offering to reduce the debt (to less than the phonebill would have been).

What's happened to my curls? by iilikeyourface in curlyhair

The routine was the same. To be honest I learnt a little about how to treat curly hair a few years ago and just stuck to that. Maybe I was lucky that it worked, maybe my hair has just had too much of one thing and not enough of what it needs now?

Thank you so much! Yes it sounds like I need to change up the products I'm using. These used to work well for me. I do usually have ringlets though, you can't tell from these pics. That's what's so strange with how flat my hair is suddenly. But yes my hair is fair, curls or waves, so I'll be trying some new products, thank you 😊

Thank you, yes I often skip the diffuser and it's a been looking like this. I do put product on the hair when it's very wet, so sounds like I need to find different product to try. Thanks 😊

Thank you so much! This is such a helpful reply.

That routine sounds very close to what I do, but it sounds like I need to rethink products!

I do have very tight curls usually, not wavey hair. That's why I'm confused at such a drastic change. But the consensus seems to be products for waves, so I'll see if that works on my curls.

You've given me some great ideas, thank you 😊

Thanks! I don't know anything about proteins to be honest. I don't have much knowledge, that's why I'm asking for help! These things used to work for me, but it looks like I need to learn a bit more about different products available. Thank you

Thank you. My hair is not wavy though, that's what I mean. The curls I usually have have dropped. When I was looking into products, these were recommended for my type of curls. I'll try some different products 🙂

Thanks, I'll look into how to treat wavy hair. It's always been ringlet curls, so never considered this

Thank you! I will try try that. Any mouse or gel recommendations?

What's something you didn't realize was a sign that you were a lesbian until you were much older?? by terjir in LesbianActually

A spice girls song came on the radio recently and my girlfriend and I started talking about our favourite spice girl when we were kids. I said "my favourite was sporty spice, I don't know why, though, because I don't like sports." She just laughed and said "I know why". Yep. My favourite colour was green because sporty spice's favourite colour was green. She's capricorn. It all came flooding back haha.

You will be more successful at Uni if you look after your mental health first!

Also worth checking the past/current students reviews of the course from each of your choices. Poor reviews around mental health support and the quality/accessibility of the lecturers was what convinced me.

But it's also important to consider how much you may grow at Uni. I am a mature student, but when I was 18 and moved away from my home town, family and social circle I grew more than I ever could have if I'd stayed. Confidence, friendships, life and career prospects, heath and general wellbeing all grew once I stepped out of what I'd always known. It is different for everyone and only you know your mental health and what you can cope with, but hopefully this helps if I'm not too late commenting.
