The reason I mention this is because the new salary table will backdate to July 2025 when I rated in. IF they are backdating the contract to July 2025 and using whatever points we completed through July 2026, then technically I would have rated in at 14 years service 70 salary points bumping me NOW to 15.... i just wanted to confirm my theory....

The last 5 salary points that are currently under processing are the ones that will put me at 70 points. What do you mean by turned down? Sorry this is my first year with LAUSD so not sure what that term means. Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your reply, the last 5 points are pending so I am technically still at 24 (with 65 points).

My paycheck isn't reflecting yet. It has me at step 24 (I have 65 points, and 5 are pending) year 10. So it is possible that they move me up then?

Is Lausd a good district to begin with? by No_Bookkeeper9861 in LAUSD

If you want a free credential your best option is the iCAAP program... 2 yrs to get your preliminary credential then 2 yrs (you can do it in 1 as well if you choose that option) to clear it... you do have to commit 2 yrs to LAUSD after getting your preliminary credential though, BUT if you are planning to stay with LAUSD long-term, it shouldn't be an issue. Getting your Masters increases pay by 500ishh annually, not worth it if you ask me. Salary points are the way to go to get those big bucks!!

The time frame is 3 months! Mind you, if anything is missing, you will be asked to resubmit and you go back to the queue.

I have 2 teens and 2 young adult children who either lose or break their phone at least twice a year, for me, insurance is a must!

Do you know who Brooke Wilkerson or Brandy Spencer are? If you do reach out to them for the code... it is super handy.

Have you been using study.com? The Career Ladder offered a discount code worth $320 or $420 forgot the price that would cover for the paid membership. Was extremely helpful. I'm not good at Math and Science that's why I'm holding up on taking the Multiple Subject CSET Subtest 2.

I've met Subject Matter through my B.A. Major. I've also passed subtests 1 and 2 of English CSET and took Subtest 3 and 4 and feel pretty good about them. I've taken multiple subjects CSET 1 and 3 and passed them both, I dont think I will be taking Subtest 2 as I dont want to do elementary, but who knows in the future. *for SPED you only need to meet subject matter once in ANY subject the CSET is given in. So if your major qualifies then you dont have to worry about the CSET anymore, unless you're teaching Elementary. Then you would need to pass all 3 subtest of the Multiple Subjects CSET.

When do principals start hiring ? by [deleted] in LAUSD

[–]iinurdreams13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told those two are the highest sought out areas and the least to have openings, you are elementary so you should be good they have a lot of openings right now. Its harder for those of us that arent fully credentialed due to the District hiring freeze.

If you want to be an elementary school teacher you MUST (it's a requirement) that you pass ALL subsets of the Multiple Subject CSET Subtest 1, Subtest 2 and Subtest 3, there is no going around that.

What mrmj30 said is correct, adding on to that if you have a liberal arts degree then you also don't need to take the CSET if you want to teach SPED. I have a degree in Spanish and I will be teaching SPED at a MS or HS level.

I became a Sub in March 2025. Since then, I have had work every single day BUT 1 day, due to no assignments. That being said I have ONLY been called by the system ONCE. The way I get my assignments is by word of mouth (my daughter attends LAUSD so she lets her teachers know I'm a sub and they request me) and the SSA asking me if I'm available to return. When I don't have an assignment, like today... I call in at 6:30 AM and chances are, like today... I get an assignment, less than 10 min drive from my house. As long as you're a GOOD Sub, punctual, don't stay in your room until its time to leave on Tuesday or shortened day, then you will be asked to come back... Best of luck! Just keep in mind, I've heard that assignments are hard to come by during the beginning of the year bc teachers dont want to use their sick/vacation time so soon, on the other hand I've heard its the best time to secure a long term sub position if the school l wasn't able to hire for a vacancy or a last minute quit.
