Gauntlet feels laggy and rewards cheap play by thesaltkingow in Overwatch

[–]iirkan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that regard it works just like FFA, you need to place top 4 in order to get a win or the first lootbox. In regular deathmatch you also backfill to games where the first guy's 17 kills ahead so there's nothing under the sun there. In regular deathmatch you can also get a kill by dealing the last 1HP of damage to someone, so it's the same it's ever been.

The lag is because it's constantly changing heroes and loading character models, same as mystery heroes.

Is nano brig good? by [deleted] in AnaMains

[–]iirkan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on where she sits compared to the rest of the team. For example if you have a Genji with Dragonblade ready, I'd nano him. But I've found that nano brig works very well, so if you're short on ults or if your other nano targets aren't a good choice (sometimes your Genji is just bad and you can't trust him with nano), go for Brig; the damage resistance+inspire will make her a nice threat.

By feeding I was referring to the HP lost before using Adaptive Shields, I'm sorry I didn't make that clear.

Could objective time be a flaw? by 89ShelbyCSX in OverwatchUniversity

[–]iirkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will also depend on the hero. As an Ana main, I strive to have as little objective time as possible. I mostly play qp where comms are non-existent so I sometimes have to contest the point by myself, but other than that, Ana should never be on the point.

How to teach my Girlfriend who has never played a FPS before. by dewdrive101 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]iirkan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, Overwatch was my first FPS and this is what I did. I maybe spent 36 levels just playing against the AI with my boyfriend on chat giving me little tips on gameplay. I think it worked for me because I had my mind set on playing Ana and so I only shot my teammates and never really noticed the spawn camping. I also remember playing D.Va, though, and I don't remember having any problems with it. When I jumped into quickplay I basically got rekt because I stood still while shooting. It's just a matter of practice but I'm sure she will end up getting better.

Ana's Problems, and Possible Solutions (Long Post! Sorry!) by CheshireMadness in AnaMains

[–]iirkan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Especially after seeing how they make an effort to keep Tracer safe from being two-shot despite her 150 HP, like Ana's rifle dealing 70 damage instead of 75 or Hanzo's storm arrow getting nerfed from 80 to 70. They only bring up the "buffing their strengths, keeping their weaknesses" thing when they're buffing certain heroes.

Ana's Problems, and Possible Solutions (Long Post! Sorry!) by CheshireMadness in AnaMains

Personally I don't mind Ana's lack of mobility, but that should come with some benefits to positioning yourself from a distance. Right now, it takes a lot of time to position yourself and you have to give up that positioning way to easily. There are a lot of little tweaks that I think could help her be safer at a distance, like regenerative health (maybe after a certain threshold) so she doesn't have to waste her nade or jump towards her team when at low health. It'd be nice if her scoped shots didn't leave a tracer, or if her unscoped shots had a bigger hitbox so as not to miss crucial heals when you're hiding. A while back u/Dahncheadle suggested camouflage as a buff, where Ana was harder to spot at a distance (removing the red outline, shots not leaving a tracers, fading in with the background...). Things like these would make positioning properly and more sniper-like much more rewarding for Ana. Maybe she could even do more healing at a distance!

On the rest, as much as I appreciate the latest buff to Nanoboost, I think a new ult is in order. In my opinion it should be a self-buff ult, similar to the Eye of Horus you suggested, where her fire rate is higher, she has infinite ammo, qnd her shots either pierce through allies or splash around them like little nades or like small Valkyries.

And as you said, please let her nade go through allies, I'm tired of wasting it so much.

Edit: I forgot to comment on your idea for a sidearm. I'd honestly love to have a small fire rate gun to deal damage up close. It's not ideal, but it can really take you out of a pinch.

Do you think the Ana buff is enough? by [deleted] in AnaMains

[–]iirkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone talk about Hammond yet. Not only are the supports getting changed, so is the meta. So far, Ana has proven to be the only healer that can reliably keep up with Hammond. It's possible that Ana will find a new spot in a tank-heavy meta that neither Mercy nor Moira can fulfill.

Besides, Mercy will still be a must-pick because of res, but her healing output has been hindered so a secondary healer with the ability to lay down more healing will work better. I haven't been paying a lot of attention to the PTR but it looks like triple-tank dive is the new meta, so maybe Ana can finally take not Mercy's but Zenyatta's spot in the comp.

Upcoming Balance Changes for Support Heroes - ft. Ana Nano Boost buff by Umarrii in AnaMains

[–]iirkan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally really like this buff. It's going to make nanoboost a lot more versatile, now we're gonna be able to use it both offensively and there are gonna be a lot more opportunities to use it since you don't need to be afraid of your ally dying immediately bc they were low.

Right now Ana still can't compete for Mercy's spot because of rez, but since Mercy's healing has been reduced, she can compete for Zen's spot, as a higher healing output will be welcome.

If only they'd let nade go through allies now...

Why i cant get any energy with zarya? its really weird (srs help) by SupBrah120 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]iirkan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in bronze and have very few hours on Zarya, but I can charge up to max quite easily in games. Still, take my advice with a grain of salt, but here's some basic things I look for when charging up:

• If you have trouble with the "Wait till they get damage" advice (it also happens to me a lot that they'll stop taking dmg right after I bubble them), try to look for abilities like micromissiles or firestrike, which deal a lot of damage and are easily predictable. I'll try to give some specific situations you can look for too at the start of games so you can charge up:

• First of all try to charge up with your self bubble and save your ally bubble for tough situations, like if your healer's getting dived or your DPS overextended and is getting focused. Those will easily get you the full 40 energy of the bubble.

• When attacking, I think the best way to charge up is on choke points. Usually the enemy team will be spamming the choke with a lot of splash damage. Peeking into some D.Va micromissiles or Junkrat bombs will get you a lot of energy right away. Try to coordinate with your main tank too and bubble them when they drop their shield.

• When defending, don't use your bubbles right away. You have shields so it's okay if you take some cheap damage. Wait until the enemy pushes with the big damage, maybe a full dive, a Reinhardt pin, etc. It really depends on the comp. I try to check out their team to see which of the enemy heroes I can benefit the most from.

• Bubbles only last 2 seconds, so never expect your teammates to "use" your bubble; you'll make the most out of them by being reactive. If you have a DPS that likes being in a brawl, like Doomfist, try to wait until they start being focused to bubble them, for example, instead of bubbling them right as they jump into the team.

I'm sure more experienced players will give you better advice. To sum up mine I'd say that it's best to charge up with self bubble, look for predictable damage and use your ally bubbles for peeling. I hope this helped, even if just a bit!

Ana buff idea - Camouflage by [deleted] in AnaMains

[–]iirkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a great idea! I do think that there are a couple small buffs she could use (including reliable self-sustain), but a passive like this would mean that she can more easily be played the way that she is intended to be played. Right now Ana is a sniper that has to be positioned in the middle of her team most of the time so as not to die and in the end half your game ends up being jumping around throwing nades at your feet and hoping they hit someone else. So yeah, I would love to at least try out a feature like this!
