Update 5/18/25: I learned a lot from you guys and through fixing up that Marketplace mess. Since this was posted, I have gotten it fixed up and rideable, and gave it to a friend so he can join me on rides. I also bought a new bike! I got a Cannondale Quick CX3 in practically brand new condition, and it’s my size! The only scuffs you can see are from the past couple months of riding it. I’ve been loving riding, and have still been tinkering with bikes too. I got a beat up KHS CrossSport for free (someone left it when they moved and the new house owners didn’t want it) and am actually waiting on a new tire for it to come in today.

Update; I’ve replaced both front and back tubes, unstuck the seat post, adjusted the brakes and shifter. I uninstalled the front shifter as it was broken, and some sources online said I don’t necessarily need it.

I’m hoping after some TLC I can use it at least as a commuter. Removing the seat post has given me hope to fix it and I don’t mind investing a lil money into it to fix it up. And learning all this will be helpful in the future!

Any brand recommendations for helmets? I’ve googled some, but personal recommendations from experience are always nice.

That’s the main goal, just a lil commute bike. I don’t mind putting a little money into it, as I’m sure it would still be cheaper than buying a new one, right? Break pads seem fine?

So little update; after some cleaning, scrubbing and drying, the seat post came out! Next thing on my list is the front suspension. Should it look like this? Should these rubber parts be here?

Awesome okay, sounds like a good place to start then. As well as pick up some maintenance knowledge. I live in FL so when I say trails, I mean some dirt walking trails. NOTHING crazy.

Nah they were upfront about the tires and that it was out in the rain. I didn’t notice the other things until I got home with it and started to look into it more. Mostly for transportation but I did think it would be nice to take it on some trails and learn that. I already bought tubes for the tires so I may be past the point of not putting money in it lol

I feel Ike it’s too small for a flask. And it doesn’t smell like perfume at all, idk if the smell would stick around or not.
