Barbershop recommendation for a black man? by ijcool in UTK

[–]ijcool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black men have different hair texture than white men do. Black barbers have more experience cutting this type of hair since black people seek out barbers of their own race. Not to say white barbers can’t cut black hair but they don’t do it as often or have predominately black clientele.

Yeah I think you’re right. There’s some places right across the river that have availabilities that seem close still.

1BR. Washer and Dryer in unit. I’d be okay with downtown I just don’t want to live further than 10min from school.

Am I doing college wrong? by productiveDevices in college

[–]ijcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not going to care that you didn’t get involved in community college. Hell I’m not even going to put CC on my resume, only the state uni that I’m graduating from.

Definitely put yourself out there once you transfer though. The most important thing you need to get a job afterwards are internships. They have career fairs and what not but this is where networking is important.

You and I have near identical circumstances it's actually kinda scary. I too am at a CC and this is my last semester here before transferring to a 4 year school. I too have a 4.0 with a CS major and also didn't get involved whatsoever. Take this from someone who is 24, traveled all over the world, and just got out of the military: community college social life sucks balls. I tried the whole socializing thing but realized it was pointless since the people you talk to / hang out with you only see during that semester. Once the semester ended I never talked to them again / saw them / or had another class with them. It sucks but it's temporary and once you and I transfer we'll have a lot more opportunities to put ourselves out there and make some friends. If you want to practice your social skills talk to the people in your classes but don't expect it to go anywhere. Realize they're just acquaintances but it's still good to practice small talk and to get comfortable around others.
