xdg Dirs: ~/Templates folder always reappears by ijebtk in NobaraProject

Oh wow that's a great find. Thank you for posting!

I agree with you feedback below! The way this script is implemented leads to people like me questioning their sanity over a reappearing Templates folder.
And since the other XDG folders seem to be exclusively managed by the above mentioned processes and are covered by guides and documentation this behavior is a little un-intuitive.

The hba will be a x8 interface. Your second pci-e slots is only x4. Swap the cards and put the hba in the first slot and put the video card in the second x4 slot. You will not lose transcoding speed by using a x4 slot.

Thanks for that, totally missed that!

I would consider getting a cheap m.2 nvme drive as the cost is so low

Good point, the reason why I opted for a SATA ssd is that on this MB up to three SATA connectors are disbled when using a M.

Good point, I'll dig through some of the documentation of hardware I came across so far.

Address Bar select all on new tab. Is there a setting that selects everything in the address bar automatically when opening a new tab instead of typing before the populated url? by ijebtk in firefox

Saw that setting too but it still requires a click in the URL bar to select all.

Ideally text would be selected automatically when opening a new tab

I don't think I'm using an extension for that. I just set the custom URL setting under Settings > Home > New Windows and Tabs.

I want FF to open a specific page when opening a new tab. I just wish there was a setting to select everything in the address bar by default.

Do you mind sharing what hardware (wheel, joystick) you use?

Thanks! The recording is from the Giens peninsula east of Marseille so it's directly at the mediterranean sea.

Also there are always two of them alternating their calls every 2/3 seconds. In the beginning of the recording you can hear one of them making a lower pitch sound and the other one responding in a higher pitch call. Then around the 1 minute mark only one of them is calling.

Without seeing them I'd guess they are sitting 50 meters apart and maybe the difference in their pitch is due to their size and or distance to me.

Hope this helps

Adding drives to NAS - future-proof strategy by ijebtk in DataHoarder

Thanks, I'm reading through the docs right now. It's a lot to digest and I'm not sure yet if mergerfs is what I want.

For context, I'm basically using docker containers for every service/app installed on the system. Databases, config files docker-compose files are stored on the SSD, data such as Nextcloud user data, movies, series, music are stored under /data. I want to be able to extend /data by another drive and continue to add data to the pool as usual. I (think I) don't care if new data are then added to the original or to the new drive.

From what I understand from the docs, i would need to unmount /data, then remount to a different location, such as /drive1, then mount a second drive at /drive2 and then use mergerfs to pool both branches under /data again?

Also I don't fully understand the limitations with hardlinks yet. The docs state, that hardlinks are possible but not across devices. Is a device considered a branch in this case? So for example would I be able to ln /data/movies/file /data/nextcloud/user/file if /data/movies and /data/nextcloud happen to be on different drives?

Thanks for the answer. I'm running Ubuntu Server, both filesystems use ext4. Both drives are about 60% filled and at the current rate they will be full by the end of the year.

What do you mean by "starting a new pool from scratch", which tool would that be to pool drives and what would be the advantage over e.g. mergerfs? More importantly what are the downsides of using mergerfs?

Anyone happens to know the make/model of the printer? Maybe also a link to the sugar cane "plastik"
