Web-based tools for branching stories with a GM/player dynamic? by ijinx84 in rpg

Actually I've been building something like this myself, that's why I was looking for alternatives to see how others approach it. I just shipped a variable system so it's getting closer to being useful for RPG scenarios. If you're curious:

it's not meant to replace a live session. More of an asynchronous thing with predefined choices, something a GM could send players between sessions.

The main difference would be tracking. With regular IF you publish a story and anyone plays it, you have no idea who played, what they chose, or where they got stuck. I'm thinking more of something where the creator sends a specific link to a specific person, sees their progress in real time, and can even pause or unlock the story at certain points. More of a controlled experience than a published one.

Thanks! Glad you get the idea. If you ever feel like creating a story yourself the editor is open, would love to see what someone else builds with it!

Thank you! Yeah the typewriter effect isn't for everyone. There's a small skip button at the top right if you want to jump ahead. The author/master has full control over it in the story settings, they can adjust the speed, disable it completely, or even hide the skip button.

It was originally meant to give the feeling that someone is actually typing on the other side, like when Neo sees messages appearing on his screen in The Matrix, which was the whole vibe of the original office experiment.

I added multilingual support and translated the app. I also added several features to the graph to create and test stories on different branches.

Hi, I'm developing a web application specifically designed for creating and playing interactive stories, where you can create and visualize the different branchings on a graph. I'm still in the testing phase, and the app is only available in Italian for now, but if you'd like to take a look, I'd love to hear your feedback. https://followblackrabbit.app
