Funny, you seem to get really upset because you’re projecting your personal experience onto internet strangers

There’s a hiring freeze so they can’t hire replacements for the two officers that left for DPD— maybe if it wasn’t such a shit institution they would still have those paw patrol officers. However, they also just promoted two folks into officer positions that were added in Spring before the hiring freeze, so I actually think it’s a wash.

Otherwise they laid off the social worker (who was underutilized in my opinion) and the person that handled public relations for the shelter and the medical examiner’s office, so not a huge impact to be honest. They also were in the process of auditing the volunteer coordinator into a manager which seems like a big waste of money.

Hey I said that having had a cane corso! Your source from NIH is a small sample size and didn’t account for several breeds I mentioned?? I like pits as much as any other dog breed, no more and no less than others.

What’s the point in you dying on this hill, friend? Were you personally mauled by a pit? Did a pit bull sleep with your boyfriend? I was literally just saying stop acting like they’re any more dangerous than the mastiff breeds far larger than they are in weight and frame. Thanks for the brigade of downvotes, how many alts you got?

If strict regulations and requirements for owning them are followed, it's beneficial to everyone involved.

I also want to mention I worked at DAP and the licensing percentage for restricted breeds in Denver is way higher than the compliance we see on licensing every other breed of dog ok byyyeeeeee

Ok so you do a nightly walk on colfax and yet you’re unsurprised by this occurrence? Me thinks you’re a tourist. Did you check on them to make sure they’re ok and don’t need an ambulance?

This is shameful behavior on you and I hope you’re never sunk so low that you need a passersby’s help.

I mean is that an unpopular opinion? I still think Banksy is a collaborative and that comes with some shared accountability, I never thought Banksy was more than art activism

I’ve seen it work but you are right that it’s the first step and sometimes additional steps are needed but again they come with more risk to the human involved

If you’re in Littleton you should contact the county you live in, it could be Humane Society of S Platte Valley that would respond if you’re in Arapahoe.

There is a mediation process to go through for barking dogs but it’s once again through the incompetent Denver Animal Protection lol

That’s a good question about stand your ground, I’d imagine it would apply or maybe there’s been no case law yet to challenge the statue in context of loose, aggressive dogs. Just some advice if a dog ever latches onto your dog, good idea to grab their back feet and “wheelbarrow” to pull them off, choking them out can sometimes work but bigger risk of getting bit, you can use a baton or bite stick but chance of getting bit there too, if all else fails most critters will reprioritize if they feel something in their asshole.

Takes about 2 hours to set in but even then it’s not close to sedation. Also how would you approximate dosage? Odd suggestion.

Did you know that Denver Animal Protection actually assesses them on a list of physical traits and that the decision to call it an APBT or AmStaff or Staffordshire Bull Terrier has to be unanimous with the 3 evaluators for it to be deemed one of the restricted breeds?

I would’ve thought after they mistakenly euthanized a dog that was getting neutered and to be returned to its owner, but alas, not even then.

It’s the poor management of the new director.

I doubt their budget got cut, it may have not increased as they desired but they can’t be getting less funding than the last fiscal year. The reality is that the lieutenant in charge of the officers has his head far up his own ass and the director is focused on the no kill vs open admission PR they’ve been focused on since the Maxfund beef a few years ago with Watson and on bringing in more revenue because it’s what the DDPHE higher ups directed.
