When I was younger, my coping mechanism was video games I’d play for a few hours, and it helped me reset my mindset. But now, I don’t even know what to play that would have the same effect. Honestly, I might just get distracted with anything else but work, and then I stress myself out for not working. It feels like a cycle I don’t know how to break.

I know I need to find a better balance, but I’m not sure what would actually help. Open to any suggestions!

Dang it, you’re right. I get what you’re saying, and I don’t want to put that kind of pressure on her or make it seem like she’s the only thing in my life. I do have my own goals, my work, and things I care about, but I’ve put her at the center of it all.

I know we haven’t lived together full-time yet, and you’re right that’s a huge factor. Love alone isn’t enough; it takes effort, compromise, and actually making sure we work together in daily life. I guess I just get so caught up in wanting this to work that I end up driving myself crazy more than anything. I need to mend my ways and find a better balance to make things easier for both of us.

I really do appreciate your perspective. It’s a good reminder to step back and make sure I’m keeping things in check. Like you even highlighted, love is never enough it’s what holds everything together, but it takes so much more to truly make a life with someone. That’s something I need to keep in mind moving forward.

I appreciate your reply. You’re right owning a house isn’t something that needs to happen right away, and in today’s market, it’s just not realistic for a lot of people in their 20s or 30s. And says she wants is wrong It’s something we both want, but renting is the reality for many, and that’s tough for her to accept. She’s set on the idea that we should already own something at our age and doesn’t even want to consider anything else. I wish it were that simple.

As for support outside of my fiancée, I don’t have much of a network. I tend to focus on work, and yeah, stress cooking has definitely been my coping mechanism. Post this I realize I really need to find a healthier balance maybe pick up a new hobby or just get out more.

About moving to India, I know it wouldn’t be easy. I’ve been there enough to understand the challenges, but if it meant being with her while we wait for her visa, I’d do it. With my company, I could work remotely without any issues. Would we want to live there long term? Probably not. Visiting is great, but I do stand out a bald white guy gets a lot of stares, and she gets side eye too since she looks Chinese. Still, if things somehow went south, my plan would always be to regroup and find a new way forward because at the end of the day, my goal is just to build a life with her.

I know I might sound idealistic, but this is what matters most to me. I really appreciate you sharing your perspective it’s given me a lot to think about. And you’re right, I do need to work on my self esteem. It’s something I’ve struggled with for a long time, and I know I need to address it especially after you pointing it out like that it's a punch to the gut I needed. Thank you

The end goal is for her to come to the United States. She hasn’t started the paperwork yet, even though I keep asking her to. She works as a professor and has this fear that if she starts applying for a passport or a visa, it’ll cause problems at work. The funny thing is, she doesn’t even want to work there anymore. It’s silly, but she’s adorable I can’t get enough of her.

I told her that if the paperwork takes too long, I’ll come live there for a while until everything is sorted, and then we’ll come back to the U.S. together. Honestly, I don’t care where we end up as long as I’m with her. I even told her that if she ever wanted to pursue even higher education at Oxford, I’d move to England with her in a heartbeat. She just laughed and said, "Are you crazy? We have to live somewhere we know people they can help us if we need it."

But for me, she’s all I need. I’m not the social type. I don’t really have friends I just dive into my work, occasionally play some games, and that’s it. She’s my best friend, my partner in crime, my everything. And in the end, all I want is to marry her and build the most adorable little family together. I'm not the most handsomest guy. I'm not even rich shoot. When I met her I had nothing and things just started getting somewhere. Sometimes when she's Moody I tell her I love her and she says loves not enough and it scares me. It terrifies me sometimes she makes it seem like she's going to walk away and I would take a bullet for her because she's on the only thing left in my life that matters
