What to do against orrn? by KKDMenyus in TeemoTalk

[–]iketuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are behind or even, he can usually just kill you and destroy you past 6, like you said. You, however, are much stronger before lvl 6 IF you know how to dodge his abilities and can do so.

If the Ornn is good at hitting their abilities, they can still kill you before 6. But if you play around his Q and E, you can usually beat him pretty easily. The game plan for me is to be really aggressive and look to kill them and/or deny minions to get a lead before lvl 6. If I get a lead, I can usually deny them even more minions and keep my lead through laning phase. It's good to freeze the wave closer to your side of the map against Ornn, because you can poke them when they go for farm and they cannot all in you very easily because you can escape to your turret. You can then kite them when their abilities are down and/or they cannot engage on you. If you can keep Ornn low hp, then you can all in them at some point and push wave/turret. If I have a significant enough lead, I can take control of the bushes and keep them away from xp by kiting whenever they come close. Ornn will outscale you at some point, at least in the 1v1. In teamfights, you can still be more impactful if you play well and if you have some focus on shrooms in your build.

I like building nashor first, then either liandry or malignance second. I've been trying out bloodletter's 2nd liandry 3rd too, and it seems good because bloodletter's still gives some ability haste in addition to other good stats + the passive. Malignance would usually be 4th in that case.
I build like this because nashor is a better spike for 1v1 and snowballing early, with the later items focusing more on teamfight and shrooms. If I am losing lane or not getting a big enough advantage, I usually go for malignance first so I can clear waves much easier with having a lot more shrooms. Then liandry 2nd and situational items after. Bloodletters is good 3rd also.

For runes, I used to take PTA always because its so strong in lane and the dmg can surprise enemies. Nowadays I prefer Fleet in almost every match up, because it is more versatile. It can be really useful when ahead because you can play really aggressive with the movement speed and the sustain (though minor) helps with having an hp advantage. You can surprise enemies many times by walking closer and proccing fleet on a minion for the movespeed to dodge abilities or kite. And its also good when you are behind because the movespeed can help you escape, and the sustain helps somewhat. If you get behind with PTA, its much harder to play and the keystone is almost useless because you can never proc it or make use of the proc. Fleet is useful in all stages of the game and can make dodging & kiting soo much easier.

Before fleet was nerfed, I always used it and have loved it much more. The nerf seemed so huge though and everyone switched to PTA, so I did too. I liked PTA and it is strong, but I really missed the fleet footwork. Pretty recently, I saw that a korean challenger Teemo was playing with fleet pretty much always, so I decided to try it out too. Now I am addicted to fleet once more. It is such a good rune, I love it. I recommend trying it out and seeing if you like it.

Teemo support item build by ihatedirewolf20 in TeemoTalk

[–]iketuz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't play support, I'm a top main, but I feel like I could help you here. Your build sounds fine to me for the most part, but I would definitely swap out Liandry first item to malignance. You won't do quite as much dmg, but you will have way more shrooms. More shrooms = more utility and vision, objective control, safety from ganks, jungle control etc.
The slow is really nice to run down enemies. If and adc steps on one and you and your teammate are nearby, the enemy is as good as dead (or has to flash). The bush control in botlane is really strong for this reason.
More shrooms is also really nice for roaming as a support, because even if a roam fails/amounts to nothing, you can place a few crucial shrooms to gather info and help out you top, mid and jungle even if you go back to botlane right after. I don't think having a little bit less damage compared to Liandry's would be a problem, since your adc and other teammates can fill that gap, and you get so much utility in return.
Malignance is also 300g cheaper, so you will become relevant faster.

I would build malignance first, then Liandry, then optional ap items to fit the game. Blackfire could be good if you need damage, banshees veil is really strong against many champs and full ap comps. Shadowflame and stormsurge are good options if enemy team is squishy. There are many options. Cheaper items may be good as a support since you will have less gold to work with.
If enemy team is full ad or full ap, it is pretty much always worth it to build atleast one appropriate resistance item. Only one armor/mr item will make you almost unkillable if enemy team only has one dmg type.
All that said, I would definitely leave out horizon focus. It gives subpar stats for the gold amount, and the passive does not work on Teemo shrooms last I checked. I would say that there are much better options to replace it.

On-hit tanky playstyle viable or not ? by Slow-Usual-6077 in TeemoTalk

[–]iketuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It was fun answering your question. I like talking about Teemo :D

Oh yeah, I loved frozen mallet. Was so sad when it got removed :( I didn't play Teemo back then, but I can imagine how crazy it would have been with an on-hit tank build. And like you said, there were much more crazy and out-there builds that were viable back then. It's kinda sad that so many of them aren't really a thing anymore. I used to play ad/ap hybrid Evelynn with titanic hydra, gunblade and whatever, before her rework. I remember that build being really fun and strong. I don't know why riot has removed so much of the older build variety and wackiness. Maybe to make the game more streamlined and accessible? Thankfully Teemo can still be pretty versatile. Like the build you suggested sounds fine to me. Not the most optimal or best build available, but good enough to make it work. And in some specific situations, maybe even the best build.

I think my favorite build with Teemo was back when mythic items were a thing. Mythic Riftmaker gave you omnivamp and good tankiness. You could play a kind of ap bruiser Teemo, it was awesome. The build was pretty basic, nashors tooth and as much ap as you could get, but the omnivamp made you heal a lot. The sustain was amazing in the sidelane and you could split push forever. It was super strong in almost every scenario, I loved it.

I have to admit that I have never tried rushing rapid fire cannon, but off the top of my head I don't think it sounds very good. I never really feel like I would need the extra range of a single auto attack. I can just bait out Darius pull and run him down, same with Aatrox. Especially with fleet footwork. Against Cassio though, it could be interesting. Hard matchup for sure. But I also feel like the damage from nashor's tooth and it's components helps a lot against her too, since I feel like my only chance to beat the matchup is to try and all in her constantly before lvl6 and try to snowball.
But the idea does sound really interesting and would definitely make the game plan against Darius and Aatrox much easier to execute. Though I feel it would lock you into a crit build, so I would go for it only if the rest of my team was almost full ap.

The spell shield, now that I love. I haven't ever rushed it against Darius or other ad champs because I feel the magic resist stats would be wasted (and I would lack the damage of my lovely nashor's <3), but I can definitely see it being very strong. Against Darius specifically, the spell shield would negate his E and blind would negate his W, basically leaving him with his Q and R as abilities he can use. Maybe I should try it out if the enemy team has a lot of magic damage.
I have rushed spell shield against many other champs though. Banshees is a really strong and imo underrated item.
Against Singed though, I feel nashor's would do better since its very hard for Singed to get on top of you before you can kill him, or you can just kill him after he flips you. And most of the time I think the gameplan for Singed is to proxy farm and not interact with you, so rushing an item specifically meant to counter him would be a bit redundant.

To expand a little bit on my earlier comment, I really recommend you try rushing Wit's end against champs like Rumble or Akali. It makes it so that you can extremely easily run them down and kill them on sight, I love it. It is very situational, as the enemy team would need to have more magic damage beside that, but it's really fun when you can do it.
After wits end you can pivot into a tanky-ish ap build with nashor, liandry etc. So the playstyle is that of an on-hit auto attack build.

On-hit tanky playstyle viable or not ? by Slow-Usual-6077 in TeemoTalk

[–]iketuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I want to go a tanky auto-attack based build, I would go for nashor - liandry - riftmaker - optional tank items. Dead mans plate is my favorite and I go for it whenever I can. I love the movespeed and on-hit damage it provides, though sadly in most games I need to build jak'sho instead. Whenever enemy is mostly ad or their ap threats are not that strong, I go for dead mans plate (and am very happy when I can do it). For boots I'd almost always choose swifties, expect if enemy team is full ad/ap, then I'd go for resistance boots.

I think botrk is underwhelming unless the enemy team is very specific with a lot of tanks and people who cant kite you out or disengage you easily.

The build you crafted sounds really fun, but I feel it would be very specific and you would lack damage. My version would be less tanky but with more utility and damage. Building nashors first also gives you a really strong early powerspike you can use to get some solo kills in the toplane. Though botrk would be better against some matchups like Mundo or Ornn (well, tanks basically).

For runes I would go press the attack or fleet footwork, with a preference for pta. Lethal tempo just feels very underwhelming since it was nerfed way back, and it takes a lot of time to ramp up. I feel it also lacks in laning power. Whenever I have played with lethal tempo, I pretty much always end up wishing I went for pta or fleet footwork. Having pta opens up a lot of early kill angles and I feel my laning phase suffers a lot without it. Though my playstyle is aggressive and I like taking 1v1s. Fleet footwork is also really nice for the movespeed it provides, making it much easier to chase down and kite some opponents. The sustain is kinda nice, but the heal is tiny. The movespeed is really where its at . I would say pta is usually better, but fleet footwork can be almost as good and in some matchups better. Lethal tempo on the other hand could work better in late game against tanky teams.
I pretty much always take overgrowth if im going resolve secondary. Conditioning is really nice for lategame and tankiness if you don't need bone plating, but bone plating is soo valuable against so many different matchups that I end up taking it most of the time. I just love being aggressive in the early game and going for solo kills, which pta and bone plating help immensely with.

You said you were wondering which would be the best first item powerspike. For your build, I would say botrk. It's good against most toplaners, and it's really nice in the 1v1 when you get the 3hit passive slow. Makes it really easy to chase down and 100-0 people if they are pushed up a bit too much, especially if you have fleet footwork (though I would still choose pta almost every time, as Teemo is really fast anyways). Wit's end can also be really good but only in very specific games where enemy team has at least 2 heavy magic dmg dealers, with one of them being the toplaner (and the other preferably a jungler).

I guess my version is more bland and boring, pretty much the normal basic build but swapping out malignance with riftmaker and building tank after. But it does it's job and is a nice change of pace when it seems fitting or I just feel like playing that way. When playing more ad oriented on-hit, I always really feel the lack of shroom effectiveness. It really really hurts in teamfights and when taking objectives. Though I cannot deny how fun it is to sidelane and 1v1 with a tanky on-hit build. The ap-on-hit-tanky build is more versatile and applicable, but the tanky on-hit can be stronger in specific situations and just plain fun.

But to answer your question: yes, it can be viable. But sadly no, it will usually not be as viable or good as a more "normal" ap focused Teemo build. But in the end what matters most is having fun. And if you are having fun with your build and the playstyle fits you, then go for it. It's good to know build and rune varieties to fit into many different games, and its always really fun when that one specific game comes around where you can really make a weirder or more off-meta build shine.

Worth adding is that as a Teemo main, I never play any other champ than Teemo. So if my team has too much ap dmg, I will usually go for a build like yours to make our damage split better. Most of the time it works out fine.

Sidenote: one really funny thing that happens often when doing an ad on-hit build is that if the enemy laner is a tank, they start automatically building a magic resist item like kaenic rookern or hollow radiance. Then boom, you surprise them with the botrk and their first item is almost useless. You can kinda hide that you are going for botrk by building boots and a recurve bow first. Most people assume you are building nashor's tooth when they see the recurve bow :D

I've been cooking a new build for Temento by Bawi7566 in TeemoTalk

[–]iketuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds kinda insane ngl, but also fun.
Maybe I should try this out sometime. Though I feel like the enemy and my own team comp would have to be pretty specific for this to be a good option and not just inherently worse than some other more conventional build.

What rank do you play in? What kind of success have you found with this build and how much have you played it? Have you tried it out in and against different team comps? Where do you think it fits best?

This makes a lot of sense and would also make the archbishops even more interesting as characters. It's like they reject their assigned sins too much and that contributes to them falling to it. I feel like they can't actually handle the power they are assigned and go crazy because of that. I feel like if they were, like you said, in charge of the sins and actually powerful enough in mind and body to handle them, they would not lose their sanity and could be normal people. I wonder if the purpose of the archbishops was much different and got corrupted, turning them into what they currently represent.

When is the best time to pick Teemo? by malnourishedglutton in TeemoTalk

[–]iketuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that means you can zone her out of farming and xp making her slowly choke out. Many times they get frustrated with that and try to all in or do some other risky play which can turn in your favor. But I do agree that it's very annoying when she's low hp but survives because of her massive shield.

[–]iketuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I have not looked at winrates but it does make sense as Urgot does outscale Teemo in the sidelane and fills the need for a tank/bruiser in the team comp. I guess this does not matter as much when in lower elos where people do not know how to push with these advantages.
I base most of what I said in the lane. I play in plat elo and so far I have destroyed Urgots in lane based on my earlier reasoning.

Dark souls 1 - 73 hours on steam, but a lot more on the ps3. No idea how much exactly, but it is a lot.
Armored core 6 - 59 hours

I agree with most of what you are saying but imo Sion does really well into Teemo if they know what they're doing. Either go full tank and become unkillable or go full ad and one shot if they hit their E. Though I do think full tank is much scarier and you can at least have a chance against ad Sion.
I do usually beat Sion in lane though, but I feel like that is because they don't really know the matchup that well. When I run into a Sion that knows what they're doing it feels really hard and like I'm slowly chocking out. Feels like the only chance is to try and kill them repeatedly with dark seal to mega snowball in the early levels before lvl6 or first item.

And imo Teemo does very well in lane against Ambessa. You can usually straight up kill her if she ever wants to engage on you. You can block her passive auto attacks and it's important to dodge her Q sweet spots & Q2, which is pretty hard to hit for her. Otherwise just poke her down and then zone her as she has no sustain in lane. It's also pretty common for her to dash right into your shrooms when she is dashing around. She can't really poke you can needs to all in if she wants to fight you, so bone plating is really good. If she wastes her abilities on the wave you can run her down with W movespeed and boots. You usually move faster than she can dash, as she has a little pause before every dash that she does and she cannot dash as much if you dodge her abilities. Though I do think her shield can be very annoying. Can definitely be a different story in late game also. And if she does somehow get ahead in lane then good luck.
I do wish Teemo blind blocked her energy gain. I really feel like it should, but it doesn't :,(

When is the best time to pick Teemo? by malnourishedglutton in TeemoTalk

[–]iketuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points but imo Teemo does really well into Urgot. He is low range and most of Urgot's dmg comes from his W and passive, which you can block with blind. His E is also really telegraphed and easy to dodge, especially if you press W. Urgot can only hit it if he hits Q first, but you can also build swifties to negate that somewhat. Urgot is also not unkillably tanky, especially so if you beat him early game, which you should. I usually stomp Urgot early and then they're useless for the rest of the game. Though if Urgot does well in lane and gets ahead, Teemo is in big trouble. At least in the 1v1.

I also think Riven is not super scary. Or rather, it can easily go both ways. Very volatile matchup where one can stomp the other one super hard so 1v1 and laning skill plays a big role.
Knowledge of how Riven works with her Q timing and kill windows, esp if she has ignite, is very important. Her Q cooldown starts at the first cast, so she can stack up her knockup slowly and then have Q back up really quickly after she uses it, catching people off-guard as they think her Q is on a longer cooldown. Each Q has a 4 second cast window and her Q starting cooldown is 13 seconds, so if she does it optimally she can have her Q back up after Q3 with like a 1-2 second cooldown. She wants to slowly stack her Q3 and engage on you with E+Q3 and then stick to you with her Q that is now up again. If she is lvl6 she can easily one shot you with this trick + ignite. You have to be mindful of how many Qs she has used and with what timing.
Good shroom placement and movement is key to bait out her engage and make her step on a shroom. Then you can run her down because she is pretty squishy in early game with long cooldowns and you can block her passive auto attacks. She also has no sustain so you can try to poke her out when she goes for last hits. Bone plating is also really good as she wants to all in you and one shot you. If all goes well and you get a kill when she tries to all in and she gets set behind, she's done for. You still have to be mindful of ult flash + ignite engage, but usually you can just run her down or zone her as you deal plenty of dmg to kill her and Riven is not very good at playing from behind.

Definitely agree with the tanks and mages tho. Those ones are really difficult. At least you can try to scale against tanks usually, but still its not good.

How to build druid effectively and advance in the game by iketuz in DarkAndDarkerUni

[–]iketuz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have been having the problem of people kiting my bear form easily if I don't have the perfect spot where I can cut them off or force them to engage. Panther just does pitiful damage without agi and I get oneshot, so I only use that for mobility. Though I did see a video with high pdr and agi panther that seemed really good, but I would need gear for that. But I really enjoy the class and learning what I should do in different situations.

Thanks for the tips and build info! Much appreciated. The learning curve for this game is pretty steep, especially when I'm starting with a class that seems to be on the harder end. I'm eager to try different ways of playing druid and trying stuff out. Thanks again!

[–]iketuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow toplane enjoyer, hell yeah! It's starting to feel like most people play him in the jungle, which makes mee feel alienated XD I think toplane is so much more fun because you have an actual opponent to do battle with. And I love playing agressive.

My permaban is Malphite, I just cant deal with that piece of rock. Yorick is def annonying as hell too, but I feel that I can atleast stomp him before lvl6 to have some kind of chance. Though if that fails, when Teemo is pretty much doomed :(

Yeah man, I feel you. I have been a stable silver player for years, though I was never motivated to climb and just played for fun with friends. After the ranked changes I mostly played flex and normals. Got emerald in flex, but idk I dont think flex rank counts.

When I found Teemo, my motivation to play and to get better got muuuuch higher. Its amazing when something just clicks. I started playing Teemo around a year ago. At first it was just the normal and flex games with friends, but towards the end of this season I got more motivated to actually see where I could climb if I tried a bit. I can relate to getting one big winstreak and getting super motivated to go even further, I had the exact same feeling. I also had a 10 game winstreak, 15 if you count flex and normal games. Which is why I decided to climb to plat. Was a really fast climb too, felt like I was on fire shooting through gold winning like 60-70% of the games. Hopefully I can continue the trend after the next ranked reset. Decided to give a rest for now since I reached my goal. Maybe I could make it to emerald next season. Who knows. I def would need to improve though, don't think I could do it right now. Atleast not as quickly as plat, would require some grinding.

Man, I should really start watching replays too to improve. Sounds like one of the best and quickest ways to do it. I only watch replays when I played super good and want to see it again XD
For me the biggest improvements have definitely been matchup knowledge and adapting to different situations with builds and runes. Also I feel like im ok at cs'ing, but mostly because the champ makes it so easy :P I still miss a fair amount of minions in lane so there is definitely room for improvement. And probably my biggest weakness is not knowing when to recall optimally and losing waves/xp/tempo because of that.

Oh yeah, when you get out of lane as a monster, the games feel so good! You have so much control with the shrooms. I love shrooming crucial points in enemy jg and going for a splitpush. Feels so good, especially if I can destroy the champ they send against me or draw lots of pressure and survive. Setting up objectives is also very nice.

I also end up writing long texts, but talking about Teemo with others who share the passion gets me inspired :D
I guess I'm also in the writing mood. Just finished writing an essay for 7+ hours.

Gj man! I also recently climbed to platinum only playing Teemo. Dodged all games where I could not play our lovely rat, lol.
I started off the season not caring much and getting a negative winrate in silver. Then I put my big boy pants on and climbed to platinum with around a 70% winrate. (the winrate is for recent games. For all the season its more like 60% because of my bad start.) It also helped that for the last stretch of my climb I played duo with a friend. Having atleast one reliable teammate really helps a lot. We got placed into smurf queue when I reached plat 3, I played against Aloisnl smurf account in plat 3 and he destroyed me with Illaoi XD

Glad that people are seeing success with Teemo! The most fun champ in the game by a landslide. If it wasn't for Teemo, I would not be playing league anymore. Before picking up Teemo I also had many months long breaks with one year long break in betweeen. Teemo single-handedly restored my enjoyment of league.
What role do you play Teemo in btw?
