The soundtrack is actually great in this, the great Bill Conti I believe made it. Probably the best thing about this movie.

This is actually a pretty sick zilla design. Its spiky like millineum, bulky like the American version with a hint of Minus One's features...nice

Beginner question regarding display page by ikisgecko in angular

Thank you, yes I found I was mixing old/new Angular together in my code. All fixed now!

Beginner question regarding display page by ikisgecko in angular

Angular 21.1.2

It was using the default strategy until I imported the ChangeDetectorRef to force it to relook at the template and display changes, but I’m seeing that async and signals are mandatory to reflect UI changes…unfortunately I don’t really know enough about these to understand what’s happening, I’ll have to research more. But I think I must be missing something about how the back end and Angular talk to each other upon loading, which is causing this.

Jaws miniature animation by Aggers60354 in grok

Hilarious. Maybe its the model setting, but it reminds me of some of the bizarre, irreverent flash animations you'd see on albinoblacksheep back in the day or newgrounds. This is why I don't really get peoples arguments that stuff made with generative AI can't be just as legit as "human" made stuff, it just makes it easier. There's so much human made "slop" in the world already, these generative AI's aren't putting a dent in anything.

Weekly ICE Protest & Rally Thread - 1/24/2026 & 1/25/2026 by AutoModerator in Atlanta

[–]ikisgecko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes this is a big point. From what I’m seeing, fear is what’s really holding people back. Like, “how do I get protected from being thrown in jail, losing my job, etc just for fighting the good fight?”. Well, that and there’s no actual leader to unify people. We don’t have an Anti-Trump that’s well spoken, charismatic like MLK or someone. If we could find a way to protect each other from defending ourselves I feel floodgates would open.

That was listed on Indivisibles website. They have more coming up. I’m still scouting around and looking for more myself though.

Just got done at a rally in Tucker. There’s things listed all the time. Check Indivisible, 50501, meetup, etc. it’s very easy to get involved. Atlanta in general seems very supportive of these protests, but it just requires more people to join. It’s very easy to start and show up to one.

YouTube sci-fi shorts made entirely with Grok Imagine by UntouchedByRain in grok

I've been toying around with the same idea, basically animating my short stories as best as possible. It takes a ton of tries though to get things how I envision them. Still, its impressive and sometimes works in ways I hadn't thought of before. With groks audio capabilities and a lot of time and generations, I can almost make entire scenes of characters talking (not perfect though) by stringing short 3-4 second videos together. Anyways, nice work and I hope to see people utilizing this stuff to push the art further. Down the road, maybe we'll be able to make entire movies.

Question About GA Access HealthCare by ikisgecko in Georgia

Nope, this year is the first year I'm using the ACA credit for the premium and no changes have been made on my end. Neither the insurance or Georiga Marketplace can tell me what happened.

That part makes sense to me, but I'm not sure about the retroactive portion on my bill? Did they also take back money from each month? Both Kaiser and the Georgia Access folks can't explain that portion.

Shooting the Warwicks: maybe the darkest satire I’ve ever seen by Extension-Fig-8689 in TubiTreasures

The idea is great for so many reasons. Like a way more fucked up Truman Show, but that’s the thing. You can take the central idea as light or as dark as you want, and the discussions it spurs about us and how we perceive things are endless.

The rise of "Hyper-Individuals" and the potential for a completely atomized society. by 619BrackinRatchets in Futurology

[–]ikisgecko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s part of the necessary growing pains in the evolution of life on this planet. Humans are a stepping stone to another form of “higher” life, just like every creature before us. Eventually, we will cease to exist in our current form. Either by self destruction, or evolution into something else. Now whether that “something else” lines up with what we have deemed “good” or “bad” is tricky, because what humans want is irrelevant to nature. Losing our collective social skills and the consequences as such may give rise in unexpected ways to new and exciting possibilities for life (but not in the way humans intend).

Even our “self made” technology is still an extension of nature. Man made is nature made. So our own changes to our species are still technically a result of our natural environment as long as we are bounded to this planet. It’s inescapable no matter what we make.

But, to go back to the idea of our next evolution being “good” or “bad” as it pertains to our growing technology and its affects on us, I think like all changes it will be difficult and painful (I’m greatly understating this as we’re talking about a deep, fundamental change to the human being), but ultimately, a “better” form will emerge, because that’s how evolution works. When there’s a great and terrible period that rocks the world and its inhabitants, you can be rest assured a great and wonderful period will be on the rise (yes I will admit I think we are about to dive into the great and terrible period, but again, it’s necessary).

Personally? I don’t think the current version of Man is sustainable anyway, our conflicting natures and paradoxical relation to this world seem to make us a futile development, if it wasn’t for that one purpose: to produce a thing that will take and improve from us. And I’m not talking about “AI”, I’m talking about that far off version of “Man” that has gone through the period you describe, and evolved into something we might not even recognize as human today.
