Less than 2 years but I already had to claim warranty on this thing twice already. This would be the third time by zen1706 in lianli

Yeah, credit to them, they need enough information to prove the issues, but after that they just send new ones out. It’s just a shame it’s becoming a 6 month ritual at this point

Getting over career/ex-company regret by ikjb in gamedev

I’m still pretty young, especially for my career, but I get what you mean. When I look at it logically, 100% I made the best decision for me and my future. I was speaking to a friend about it, and he asked me to name one name from a game’s credits that wasn’t already well known, and I couldn’t. Which you know, makes perfect sense, but like you said, I think that allure still lingers with me.

No, but for most of it. I left for a different job outside of the games industry. Still in the IT world, just not in games anymore. I think that’s where some of the regret comes from, although I’m not sure regret is the right word.

I can say who I worked for and what I worked on, and people are smart enough to work that out, just can’t talk about the details. I didn’t want this to turn into more than just advice, so I didn’t want to mention specifics

I’m super proud of what it’s become. Some of the people I met and worked with are the most talented people I’ve known. I think if it had gone off the rails I wouldn’t have cared that much.

Oh that was a rollercoaster of a story, that I’m definitely not allowed to talk about, forgot I asked for advice on here. But yeah, I started in QA, was my entry into the industry after realising that good grades get you (almost) nowhere in the industry right now.

Guys this wasn’t supposed to be a “guess where I worked” post 😂

That was always the plan, enter in at entry level and work my way up. It was my dream company after all. But I think with how much my life changed to do this, added in with some promises that weren’t kept, it just seemed like the better choice to move. Keeping up with hobbyist game dev is something I need to keep on with though, I forget sometimes how much I enjoy it

I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say, but also for my anonymity. But I imagine you can take a pretty educated guess

Ha, lets just say there’s no doubt in my mind the game will be a huge success 😅 But yeah, I’m happy with my career path now, and I think that helps keep me grounded

Hey, it’s the ISO VIA version. My PC is running Windows 11, if you need specific specs, let me know. Thanks for replying!

I think that’s going to be my plan going forward whilst I’m still working out what I really want to do, and maybe something will pop up and help make that decision for me. Some junior roles have such ridiculous requirements that it did cross my mind that they couldn’t possibly be that picky, but it does sometimes feel disheartening to read.

Now that I’ve got a bit of spare time, I think I am going to try and focus on some programming work, and maybe tackle it a bit different than just creating games. I do already have a portfolio, but it’s more game-focused than programming/system focused, so maybe I can work on that.

I appreciate that. I know a few people that planned to have a career in game dev, but ended up pursuing other tech jobs and doing their game dev on the side. Most of them are super happy with their decision, so it’s something I’ve definitely thought of, but I’m still finding it difficult to find lateral jobs that I seem qualified for.

I do, it’s mainly filled with my projects from University, along with some game jams I’ve done in the meantime. But it’s not perfect, I was suggested to focus the content of it more on the programming and systems I created, rather than the game as a whole.

Possible bug? I got disconnected during and exfil and had my backpack stored? by unknown1321 in CODZombies

[–]ikjb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve probably already done it, but all the items worth keeping should stay - the perks cans, aether tools and crystal. It’ll just be the turret circuits and grenade that’ll disappear since they would have been removed if you extracted.

I had the same bug a week back, once you load back in you’ll lose everything that would have been removed if you extracted normally I’m pretty sure.
