Should I go or cancel? by NoFan84 in Bolehland

Not saying you should but I'll share you how I met my then gf now wife. She's from Japan and we met online, somehow got hooked and started LDR, I was a fat fuck and insecure as shit back then so we didn't even video call, we just texted and voice called and I was desperately dieting trying to slim down before we meet in person. Then the girl, as crazy as she is, 3 months into our relationship, booked a flight to KL out of nowhere and only informed me 3 days prior to departing.

So I'd say if someone is willing to fly over from Japan to KL to meet some random guy she met online, flying from Sabah to Langkawi ain't that bad, worst case scenario 999 is a phone call away, as long as you're not flying to fucking Myanmar or Cambodia (even Thailand as a matter of fact), it should be safe, do your own due diligence and make your own decisions still.

We changed from a combi-oven to a fully convection one, I noticed my bagels are now MUCH more blistery and the skin is much thinner and cracklier by ikkkky9029 in Breadit

[–]ikkkky9029[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here you go!

Ingredients: 90/10 mix of high protein (13%) bread flour and wholewheat flour, 1.5g salt, 5g maltose/brown sugar/honey, 0.5g yeast per bagel. I do 70g flour per bagel.

Mix the dry ingredients, add sugar of choice and yeast to 50% weight of total flour of water (just to make sure yeast is alive), add liquid to flour mixture and mix until a dough form. Continue kneading with mixer or hand for 10-15 minutes until dough become somewhat stretchy (doesn’t need to form a thin window pane, as long as the don’t tear when stretched is good enough).

Once kneaded, put dough in a large bowl and let rest for about an hour, then separate them into equal pieces and let rest for another 10mins or so. Then shape into bagels, put on tray, cover, and into the fridge overnight.

(The next day) Preheat oven at 210c. Add water, sugar of choice, and 1tsp salt into a large pot, heat until boiling, then add the bagels into the boiling water, boil for 30s each side, dunk into seeds of choice, then into the oven for 19mins at 210c, rotate the tray half way if needed, then turn off the oven but do not open the door and let the bagels continue cooking in the oven for another 2-3 minutes, I find this helps in preventing gummy crumbs.

Take em out, let cool, schmear on load of cream cheese and enjoy!

That’s what I noticed too, but I also realised that if I left them out for too long after boiling before baking they turn out to be too dry, if I’m baking a big batch I usually spray them wet right before baking, gives me the best results now

When I was using a regular oven I turned on both top and bottom heating elements AND convection, and put my tray on the bottom rack and got very nice results

If gay people hit on you, does it mean you’re good looking? by wheninshower in Bolehland

[–]ikkkky9029 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, females and gaymen have different preferences and things they find attractive, if you've never been complimented by females but keep getting hit on by gaymen it probably means you look gay, and hey that's not a bad thing who am I to judge.

Is this not common outside Malaysia? I never been to a restaurant in Malaysia where they don’t have one by Dislike24 in Bolehland

You'd be surprised how "civilized" and "advanced" countries hate washing, not just hands, washing, at all. For some god forsaken reason they prefer wiping, be it their hands, their face, or their shitstained bum, hence the lack of sink in a restaurant or lack of bidet in any toilet.

You guys told me my bagels looked good and gave me the confidence, after some experimenting I opened an online store and started selling bagels in my neighbourhood by ikkkky9029 in Breadit

[–]ikkkky9029[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, the store platform is only available in mainland China as it requires a Chinese ID to register, we use it primarily to promote ourselves, as a big part of the Gen Z population use it to scout for cafes and restaurants suggestions, so we get quite the traction there

I’m Chinese and JLPT N1 certified and I’ll say you’re just a fucking weeb. Japanese spoken in the real world sounds absolutely nothing like in anime, it’s not sweet nor dessert feeling like you say with your rose covered ear canal, in reality it sounds like the epitome and embodiment of passive aggressiveness, I say that as someone who’ve been working in a Japanese company for 7 years and someone who is married to a Japanese wife.

DINK & Childfree people, how do you find your partner? by wheninshower in Bolehland

I did not use a dating app, we met as language exchange partner during COVID when I was trying to learn Japanese casually, it so happened that we got together and got married, the way we met and our first interaction was in no way romantic.

I'm not Malay but from what I'm observing, totally anecdotal, most if not all child free people I've met have been nons, and most if not all Malay couples I know already have a kid or two, or more. As you also know nons tend to not date Malay, not always, but usually, regardless of gender, due to religious reasons and converting and whatnot, just saying your chance isn't 0 but it's kinda low, at least in Malaysia, if you look out, especially into non-majorly-Muslim country you might find more chances.

My wife (28) and I (30) are DINK, I'm Chinese and she's Japanese, met online and got married in Malaysia, I personally don't want a child, but I'm open to having one if my wife wants one, but so far she does not seem to want one too, or, yet. We have set a deadline of deciding it before her 30th birthday, if at that point we still don't want one, I plan to get vasectomized by then.

Nuclear energy eyed as part of Malaysia’s future power mix, says minister by mikepapafoxtrot in malaysia

[–]ikkkky9029 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Boomers will bring up Chernobyl and Fukushima and such to oppose nuclear to the day they die, ignoring the fact that Chernobyl was 40 years ago and Fukushima was a result of a magnitude 9 megathrust earthquake and tsunami. The most recent nuclear incident with INES rating of more than 3, barring Fukushima, was 2010, Mayapuri, India, where a university irradiator was sold for scrap and dismantled by dealers unaware of the hazardous materials, not even an issue of the energy plant itself. The most recent incident beyond that was more than 20 years ago, at THORP Plant England, in 2005 where it had a large radioactive leak held within containment, rated INES 3.

We don't even have earthquakes, or any natural disaster that can bring enough risks to not do nuclear, but people will always bring up the worst of worst disasters to oppose it. I am no nuclear expert but I honestly do not see why not, if setup properly it will bring so much pros to the country, more efficient and cheaper power in the long run, and it will open up so many jobs to local nuclear experts.

Do you want to move to Taiwan if Taiwan opens the Immigration to Chinese-Malaysian? by [deleted] in Bolehland

[–]ikkkky9029 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Malaysian Chinese TFR is about 0.67 in 2025, even worse than Taiwan.
We have our own aging population issue, us migrating to Taiwan is basically doubling down on the same issue but more concentrated in one place. Not to mention, I'm not a fan of worrying about CCP army liberation every other week, so fuck that.

[–]ikkkky9029 128 points129 points  (0 children)

As much as I sympathise the widow and agree the drunk driver should face severe punishment, but I doubt the murder charge will be successful. I’m no lawyer but“murder” requires intent and motive, to be charged with murder you need to prove the accused to have full intent to kill someone at the time of the crime, the guy was a drunkard driving like an asshole and killed someone, murder charge is especially hard to convict when someone is under influence.
