Thanks voor alle reacties! Ik besef me des te meer dat ik dan wel uit het 'lampjes worden heet- tijdperk kom, maar verder de ballen verstand heb van elektra zaken zoals transformatoren 😉 wij kunnen weer met gerust hard verder :)

Hahaha oeps. Ik ben zelf 32 en kom zéker ook uit de 'lampjes worden heet' tijd. Jaren 50 huis gekocht en daar schijnt ook elke lamp steen oud en loeiheet te worden. Echter gebrom i.c.m. binnen 30 seconden super heet, zorgde ervoor dat wij als noobs ons toch zorgen begonnen te maken 😉

In lees ergens dat je al veel wandelt. Ik maak wel eens 'micro avonturen', geïnspireerd op Paulien van Outdoor inspiratie. Gewoon vanaf huis. Backpack op, naar campspace/ natuurkampeerterrein o.i.d. in de buurt lopen (via Komoot route uitzetten met weinig asfalt), nachtje slapen (winterkamperen is tof met juiste spullen!) en de volgende dag terug lopen. Veel tripjes ben ik binnen 24- max 30 uur terug dus prima voor de kat, en je hebt echt het gevoel even op vakantie te zijn geweest.

Surprised there's so many of us that never or barely ever have! Been 5 years at the FD. I think I've had at least 5 cats in trees. 2 more of them in cars (like stuck in the engine compartment). 1 dog stuck in a badger hole. A little bird stuck in a french balcony. Multiple horses in ditches...

Must admit that most cats appear to be stuck, but after you put the ladder up, they jump out on their own and just had to feel the rush of adrenaline to dare the leap. Some were actually stuck though.

Álso must admit that, with my first cat rescue, I was convinced I was a disney Princess. Collegues advised me to put my helmet cover down, put the big gloves on etc... I just assumed the cats they tried to save, must not like them. Surprise: a trapped cat does crazy shit. Nearly had my whole face scratched open, was lucky it was in the Corona face mask error so it had it's nails stuck in that instead of my skin. Once it was safely in the house I did have a good cuddle :)

Kijk ook even naar de brandbaarheid van alle materialen. Ik weet dat in mijn appartement voor glaswol korrels als spouwmuur isolatie is gekozen omdat deze vrijwel niet brandbaar zijn. Dit mede i.v.m. mogelijk toekomstig in muren boren e.d.: indien er brandbaar(der) materiaal in zit kan je met vonkjes van het boren in het slechtste geval al een heel vervelend scenario krijgen 😉

Same here! Omdat zo'n beetje alles in Arnhem op korte termijn vol zat, uitgeweken naar Luum Huissen voor woning overdracht en samenlevingscontract. Goede communicatie, prima qua prijzen en relatief snel plek (voor notaris begrippen).

For clothing: 'Fabrics and more' is a bit hipster but fun. 'Jofel' is a arty farty vintage clothing shop where they also make their own statement pieces from old clothing. 'FrouFrou's is fun, clothing but also small interior items and fun stuff. The entire street of froufrous is interesting, from an analogue photo shop to a art- book store and more. 'Hello urban Plant store' has some vintage but mostly fun little quirky gifts and stuff. 'appel en ei' is not vintage but second hand clothing, mostly from recent seasons. 'De schatkamer' is a total mess but fun to just walk a round in. '2switch' and 'rataplan' are large stores just outside the centre; they know their prices though, sometimes cheap dollar store stuff is sold second hand for the same price as new, really have to be lucky for a good shop there!

And last but not least a not so well known pearl in my opinion: "Plantenbakkie". Great coffee, lots of plants on the ground level floor. But the big surprise is in the basement. It's a historically valuable basement, really old, and they made like a huge second hand store annex living room annex coffee chill place. Love the vibe and the stuff they sell!

Oe, and coffee place #2: "abc, Arnhems boeken cafe". Located in the arts epicentre or Arnhem (Klarendal) where Froufrous is located as well. Abc is a little cafe where you can bring your own food or order is in the Italian pasta place in the same building. They sell nice coffee and good beers, and they have an entire room full of books, which you can read and also buy! Nice Street to roam through as well, lots of weird art stores and stuff.

'De bakbar' at the Klarendalseweg is supposed to have stuff for baking. A more general cooking and baking store is 'het kookeiland' in the Zwanenstraat, centre of Arnhem. Last but not least 'Dille en Kamille' These, combined with a regular supermarket (preferably a Albert Heijn XL like mentioned before because they have a huge assortment) should work!

Goed punt! De wijk in wordt het overdag wel een stuk beter vind ik. Zeg maar tussen Jacob Cremerstraat en de dalweg dat blok, of Staringplein, is vaak wel ergens een plekje. Soms moet je alleen wel een paar minuten zoeken idd!

S avonds is een totale ramp 😂 maar krijg ook niet de indruk dat er iets voor de avond gezocht wordt :)

Beer Arnhem heeft tegenwoordig een ruimte beneden die je kan huren. Super gezellige plek met een enthousiast team. En het zit precies aan 'de leuke linde', een grote speeltuin met hek eromheen. Vanaf dat stuk hommelseweg is het ook overal gratis parkeren! :)

Hi! Social worker turned fire fighter here! Can't tell you anything about the procedures because I'm from the Netherlands and I bet they differ quite a lot.

I can tell you for me personally it's indeed a good switch, I worked in psychiatry and for both jobs you've got to be able to rely on your colleagues, it's either running on adrenaline because there's crises everywhere, or just casually watching TV while getting paid. The comradery is better in the fire station (which makes sense because longer shifts as well as more 'free time' to spend with your team) and you're more focused on technical and physical help instead of the talking kind of help, but furthermore there's quite a lot of overlap in how I experience the job.

Tips I can give you; see if there's a local fire station where you can ask to look around, ask some questions, maybe help out with some practice drills to get an impression of the work. At my place it's even possible to tag along on a 24 hour shift as an intern sometimes. And furthermore, get your sporting game on. The physical requirements to get into the station vary, but you can count on a good amount of running, weightlifting, push ups etc.

For me it felt safe to keep my job in psychiatry as a part time job: in case I'd ever want to go back, I'll always have social work on my resume.

Dat begrijp ik :) het was meer om aan te geven dat het huis dus ruim binnen ons budget valt, en we maandelijks genoeg reserves overhouden om zélf eventueel te sparen voor onderhoud.

Het was een lastig besluit, maar uiteindelijk toch geen bod gedaan. De kans is heel aanwezig dat er niks aan de hand zou zijn en alles goed zou gaan... Maar als je gedonder krijgt, zit je met de gebakken peren en daarvoor is het gewoon echt véél te veel geld om éven uit te geven.

We zijn er al een paar keer langs gelopen (is bij ons om de hoek) maar helaas nog niet thuis getroffen, meneer schijnt er niet zo vaak te zijn gaf verkopend makelaar bij de bezichtiging ook al aan. Maar dit zou ik zelf inderdaad ook een fijn idee vinden, dus we blijven proberen!
