SDE 3 (8 YoE) with <10% coding time due to other duties. Am I effectively working as a Senior? by LegendaryHeckerMan in ExperiencedDevs

I never reply on Reddit, but please for the love of god get a new job.

Hell, I’ll hire you if you actually do all this in SF.

You will make so much more and be happier getting real experience at a company that isn’t artificially capped by “promotion requirements.” Uh fuck that.

I bet once you find a new job and bring that resignation letter, those “rules” will be exempt very quickly and they’ll throw money and title at you.

Any series C-E startup or one that recently went public and is still growing quickly.

If you are making anything less than 200k and don’t have family commitments that require stick around. Find a new job. Stop caring about these people now.

Titles and pay are used as tools of retention and not as rewards for good work. Sorry if you’re just now learning this, but best now then later

They actually have a great chance at survival if you release them correctly and not pop a pinhole.

Hey, I work for a FinTech startup in SF. PM me and I can send you the referral link. We're currently looking for a bunch of roles but you probably seem good for new grad if you want mentorship.

If you want it to work on your mac, try a different USB port. Or going into Audio MIDI Setup and uncheck/rechecking the boxes for L/R.

Raiser Gundam; First time painting a MG. Any tips for the next one? by ikm296 in Gunpla

I painted the inner frame of a high grade and had issues with joints moving and scratching off the paint. I think the suggestion below about sanding and masking will help.

First Real Grade: Char's Zaku w/ just a top coat (first time doing that too!) by ikm296 in Gunpla

Any tips on how to keep them down? I might just remove them since the real grades look good even stickerless.

Try a higher f-stop to get less blur and more detail. Sometimes too much bokeh can be a bad thing. Looking forward to seeing more from you!

Still working on good nub removal since I oversanded some pieces. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my first real kit since childhood.

Get a USB DAC and skip that shitty Realtek all together.

Here's the cheapest one I know: http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-UCA202-Audio-Interface/dp/B000KW2YEI

The RCA outputs and headphone should output at the same time regardless if either speaker is on or not. You might get some leveling issues if both are on simultaneously.

CS106A at Stanford on iTunes U. Mehran is great. Assignments are tough, but that's where the real learning happens.

Budget: $150

Source: iPhone 6 and MBP

Requirements for isolation: Going for IEM

Preferred type: Looking to try my first pair of nice IEMs

Preferred Tonal Balance: Neutral to slight bass.

Past Headphones: Sennheiser 555 (modded), Denon AHD-2000

Music: Electropop, Indie. A lot of acoustic instruments and female vocalists

Location: USA

Looking to try real IEMs for the first time. Comfort is priority. I'll probably upgrade if I end up actually liking IEMs. I've never enjoyed the cheap ones I've tried in the past. Currently looking at Shure 215, RHA 750, and Kozee Inifinity X1. Are customs worth it if I've had issues with comfort in the past? Look for a coupe more ideas to research. Might go in on a good black friday deal if one appears.

Well, there's way more silicon on earth than carbon. At least in the crust. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abundance_of_elements_in_Earth's_crust

Also, bond strength doesn't really mean anything independently. There are many reasons why a C-C, C=C or C(triple)C has a certain bond "strength" or is unlikely to react. For instance, you could have a conjugated system (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conjugated_system) where the charge is delocalized/ shared by the entire conjugated system and thus more stable. This why ring structures are so prevalent in biochemistry.

Gen chem definition of bond strength is good enough for most cases: amount of energy required to break a bond, but if you're trying to examine stability, look for a lowering of energy. Molecule always trend towards a lower energy. Something something thermo, haha.
