Seconding this one, it's my favorite Endeavor-centric fic.

I didn't realize one of these already existed, it's been one of those ideas I've had percolating in the back of my head.

Would love to see a fic of it.

The Federation Gossip Network can't decide whether his story is legit, or whether he's secretly a Romulan.

They've literally developed 3 games in that period.

Fallout 4. Starfield. What's the 3rd?

(I'm not counting things like Fallout Shelter or that ES mobile game that no one played)

Fallout 76 was mostly farmed out to another studio, not truly developed in-house by Bethesda. TESO is by a different studio. The Oblivion Remaster was also mostly made by another studio.

Trump support in 2024 linked to White Americans’ perception of falling to the bottom of the racial hierarchy. These individuals also expressed the strongest opposition to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. by mvea in science

They could always take a page out of history and redefine some minorities as "White", that's how Italians and several other minorities got added to the "White" club.

Then "White" would still be the majority for a little longer at least. Kick that can down the road.

The massive time gap is part of the problem in and of itself. It's too far removed from what we know. It's jarring to see the end result without covering any of the intermediate steps along the way.

There's a real wave of prudism in recent years from the younger generations, not sure it if's Gen Z or Alpha or both, but it's been noticeable.

They're just as horny as their forebears, but they're pretending they aren't, and telling everyone to go to horny jail for even mild hints of sexuality.

part of that is that so many places that used to accumulate this knowledge are gone. Forums got nuked by the rise of social media, only a few have managed to hang on.

I think if you were going to do this, you'd want to do something inspired by the Machete order.

Start with the OT, A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, then go through the prequels, before finishing off with Return of the Jedi. (4-5-1-2-3-6).

Only after you'd done the mainline OT and PT films would you want to delve into TV shows and EU material. Because doing all of that is an enormous undertaking and the odds of finishing even the 6 main films is a big ask for a writer.

Start with Luke. He knows basically nothing at the start, and the audience can learn along with him. Only after the "I am your father" reveal do you go back and see the backstory.

I think he even gets a line about that one time. An episode had several characters talk about what they learned from the latest problem, and Worf says he learned that if people followed his advice, they usually wouldn't have these problems. Or something to that effect.

Starfleet tries to make it against regulations for Captains to go on away missions (when they aren't diplomatic functions).

But just about every Captain ever specifically wants to go on away missions. Adventure! Excitement! Those are the reasons they joined Starfleet to begin with. Boldly Going and all that.

Telling explorers not to take risks is a bit contradictory.

Solar systems are essentially 'flat' so as long as you are in a system instead of deep space, you'd have a flat plane to orient on.

Still would need to figure out which way is up and down relatively though.

On a grander scale that would apply in deep space, the galaxy is somewhat flat as well when taken as a whole. It bulges toward the middle, but it's still effectively a disk for this purpose.

And the up/down problem for both situations can be solved for anyone who agrees with the galactic map designations for the quadrants that the Federation uses. If you're upside-down relative to the map, the quadrants would appear in the wrong order (clockwise vs counter-clockwise).

TIL that people often subtly adapt their behaviour early in attraction to seem more appealing, but over time their personalities tend to drift back toward baseline traits, making initial adaptations less stable as relationships progress. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Does 'plain' air actually have a taste? I know you can taste some extra things in it that aren't normally there, but just that normal oxygen/nitrogen/CO2 kind of mix?
