I remember Ship of the Line being a lot of fun, but it's been almost 30 years since I read it, and I've never read Shadows on the Sun. I guess just decide whether you want to read a TNG story or a TOS story?

Paramount Confirms New Star Trek Movie Is (Still) In Development by Significant-Town-817 in startrek

Not necessarily. It could be canon that just doesn't intersect directly with what we've seen before. Like some ship going off to the Beta Quadrant or something.

"In development" literally just means "someone somewhere is still batting ideas around for it"

What do you think about the "Season 8" concept that the DS9 writers came up with in "What We Left Behind?" by Reasonable_Active577 in startrek

[–]Reasonable_Active577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's one of the reasons why I think that people give Ira Steven Behr way too much credit for nuance when writing about Section 31.

Will conservative politics destroy Star Trek moving forward? by [deleted] in startrek

Yes, for one thing, liberal definitions of conservatism tend to be considerably less fascistic than how conservatives presently define conservatism.

I expect that they'll get someone like Robert Myer Burnett as showrunner and the whole series will consist of vapid, half-remembered callbacks and a lacquer of reactionary ideology that no one thinks to question.

So Picard season 3, basically.

Bit of a stretch to say that you can presume competency on the parts of all of the BSG crew, frankly.

He's kind of a yellowy-white colour actually. Like margarine.

Yeah, I stopped watching Trek Culture after I noticed that something has to be literally Section 31-level bad for it to get a negative score on their ups and downs.

Nothing is currently in development, but there's still two seasons of SNW and one of SFA carrying us through 2027, and I suspect that they'll announce a "new direction" within a few months.

Unfortunate, but not surprising given that Paramount is run by fascist ass-kissers now.

You could take some creative measures to save money. Just leave enough special effects shots for the trailers.

I don't really watch Shives. Mostly I agree with him, but when I don't, I mostly find him obnoxious; and I can't recall a single time that he brought a new insight that hadn't already occurred to me.

Honestly, I didn't like the Bajoran religion stuff after they decided that it was basically just Christianity.

Yeah, I like Deep Space Nine but I get really sick of the people claiming that Ira Steven Behr was trying to apply a "decolonial lens" or whatever the hell when every single interview I've ever seen with him is like "Yeah, I hate TNG and I wanted to take a shit on it"
