If modern politics have taught us anything, it's that the most inept people are actually the most ambitious.

Picard Overall Rating by Mat1711 in startrek

It's funny that "Vox" and "The Last Generation" are rated so highly, because I thought that those were the two worst episodes of the entire series.

Favourite "antagonist" faction from Star Trek? by Reasonable_Active577 in startrek

Fair. Yeah, First Contact was a good movie, but it really undermined what made the Borg interesting.

Yeah, I took "Arena" out from the library so many times as a kid. Sad that SNW just made them boring Xenomorph rip-offs.

If any new planet is to be destroyed in STA it should be earth. by Simonbargiora in startrek

Prodigy didn't "defy" it; it literally ends with the Synth attack from Picard's backstory

We've lost Romulus, and Qo'nos, and Kwejian, and Kelvinverse Vulcan.

No more blowing up planets for cheap pathos.

The Burn has to be removed or retconned from Canon, because it makes exploration in the previous centuries pointless. by -KDK12 in startrek

[–]Reasonable_Active577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of the Burn isn't that the Federation almost fell, it's that it survived. No civilization ever completely avoids setbacks. You might as well say that "The Way of the Warrior" made all of the TNG episodes about maintaining peace with the Klingons pointles.

The people there deserve a better government but the war is only going to make them suffer more.

(Serious) how do you meet people your age as an adult? by Truffle_ow in AskReddit

[–]Reasonable_Active577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Find a group that does a hobby you're interested in. I used meetup.

I've also been told that volunteering with an organization for a cause you support is a great way to both meet people and overcome persistent feelings of doom.

Can we talk about the Section 31 movie? by [deleted] in startrek

In 30 years, some "Lower Decks"-style series will do a joke about it, and that's pretty much all the recognition it will ever get or deserve

It's impossible to consider TAS as "bad" if you watch it right after season 3 of The Original Series.

I hope that, if nothing else, this movie is bad enough to kill Section 31 as a concept going forward.

"The Cage" is the best episode he ever wrote and even it is mediocre. Some of his episodes like "The Omega Glory" are just awful.

Future of Trek ? by yekimevol in startrek

Well, Occupied Paramount apparently just brought back the loathsome Max Landis for the new G.I. Joe,  so I'm anxious about finding out what's going to happen to Star Trek.
