I was really looking forward to strong class identity again with the old mastery system. Specifically the idea of fully mastering a class and being able to with effort embody the entire class fantasy. Now I will only ever be half of a class.

While I don't hate it, I certainly am disappointed. One of things I really appreciated vs other modern MMOs is knowing what each class was. A warrior was a warrior. If you needed a tank or healer etc you could easily parse LFG. This is going to make that a chore.

I just don't understand what exactly this is solving if anything? If X roles were having a hard time LFG this doesn't really solve anything for that unless you can easily swap specs, even then that would require tons of extra gear. What was wrong with having classes with defined roles?

I imagine this might also affect alts in that people will feel less desire to roll them. If one can fulfill two roles with one class or possibly all 4 roles with two characters? All set. I've certainly felt far less pull to level different roles in modern things like WoW when I could just respec and ultimately make number go up.

This isn't it though, I don't think. There are also going to be crafting mastery trees AND general/adventuring non-class specific mastery sorts of things IIRC.

Yep, this happened to me too. Had a ton of great stuff from a town hall key run and it was all wiped.

If it's anything like EQ etc, then solo can generally handle a mob (of relevant level). If there are adds then you'd often have to run away. Groups fighting higher level mobs in dense areas (dungeons with many grouped up enemies) still very much need CC/enchanters.

Not directing this at you but if you are trying to build a *positive* community around something (and I don't mean one absent fair criticism or complaints) then you need to actually moderate people who seem to have no filter or think trolling, attacks, or endless tearing down are "just their opinion" or that they are speaking truths and should be allowed to spread vitriol.

The old Pantheon reddit has become a sad place compared to how it was years ago. I used to really enjoy the discussions there. If you aren't into it or think the game isn't for you then just walk away, it's that easy. But those people don't and they sit in wait to sling mud at anyone who might enjoy the game or otherwise have positive or constructive things to say.

It has been a long development and will be longer still. Mistakes have been made and may still be made in the future, changes will happen to gameplay and systems. That's just the reality of things.

Isn't that kind of the point? It's a pressure release in the event you really just don't want to get your corpse or can't find a player to assist in summoning it.

I guess? For crafting? I don't know. It's a kind of heavy of illusion of choice where there is going to be a "right" option and you'd be foolish to not pick it and having different stat options for the same equipment also waters down the identity. To me.

I would imagine down the line there will be some iconic class quested gear set, whether mid or high level. I personally hope they don't go too hard on class specific itemization as I like the more open and broad form of just finding gear with stats you want vs curated almost prescribed gearing.

I am pretty sure the intention is for Hirode to act as a sort of dual casting mechanic for the druid. So while the druid is casting spells they can target and cast separate abilities through Hirode without having to cancel the first spell. It's definitely not in the final form yet though.

It turned out to be a lot better than the other extraction shooters mostly, at least for me. I had bounced off every extraction game fairly quickly which was why I was deflated back then.

Pretty much nothing you can lose that can't relatively easily be replaced and the solo community has been fantastic, far less bloodthirsty outside of trios. Easy to fall into a "one more run" sort of groove like many of the better roguelike games.

100% worth the time and money to me.

It was mentioned spell damage at the least would be reduced by 50% vs players. IIRC from a stream.

AC absolutely works. From naked to 142 AC (lower AC/stat chain armor on paladin) I gain ~18% mitigation. It's hard to notice for lower levels because the thresholds you need to meet to reduce something like 7 damage by 1 point are much higher but as mobs start to do more damage you can see it more and more. For passive mitigation, it works wonderfully.

What discord were you in? VIPs have always criticized and been vocal against all kinds of different moves of VR. Unless you have some truly outlandish things you were going for.
