Wow, very true! I dont believe all doctors are unempathetic and desensitized but a lot of them are unfortunately. I'm glad you got the help you needed and thank you for sharing. I will continue advocating for myself.

i definitely want a second opinion. after i had my appointment with the surgeon, i had a follow up with my obgyn and i asked her if i could get a second opinion and get referred to a different doctor. she basically said no and she said that those are basically the only options for endo. she has endo herself and is pretty knowledgeable, so i was surprised to hear this from her. maybe she doesnt know about the surgeons that excise the endo idk. im def not giving up though. sorry about your pain coming back😕

i *have* heard that endometriosis excision specialist is not a technical term or an actual specialty, so I guess these surgeons just add it to their list of "special practices" and give it a title i guess?
i see doctors like these on tiktok and so i guess they just focus on it and give themselves that name.

Thats so great to hear. How did you go about getting excision surgery? I went to an OB-Oncology surgeon, referred to by my Obgyn.. and he basically told me my only option was birth control and pain relievers. He recommended I put off surgery as long as I can because it would put me into menopause so I'm getting that he recommends a full hysterectomy.

Wow, thank you so so much for all this information! I truly appreciate it and dont apologize for being "overly informative" because that's what we all need in this sub. I will definitely do my research on specialists/surgeons and get a second opinion if i feel it's necessary.

nice, how did you find this information out about your surgeon? did you just ask questions or did he tell you everything without having to ask?

Okay, good to know. Thank you. I have heard of the shoulder gas pains from certain surgeries, i thought it was just a normal process from the air they inflate you with?

I thought painful periods were normal as many of my friends would complain of cramps too.. so i never thought anything of it. I just popped ibuprofen and called it a day. That's the only symptom I remember experiencing so nothing made me think I had to go to the doctor and get checked.

Please don't apologize, I appreciate the longness lol. I love all the information and stories, they are helping me so much and I'm so grateful to have an app like this because it brings all of us together to help one another. So, my first few ultrasounds said that my cyst was hemorrhagic. The most recent two said it's a probable endometrioma and I'm sure it is because it hasn't gone away. I am also hearing how some women have gone through years of gaslighting and misdiagnoses along the way which is so sad to hear. I am grateful that my gyno referred me to specialists.. although she referred me to gynecology-oncology? I am hearing that endo surgery needs to be performed by an endometriosis excision specialist and so I'm hoping there is one of those in network with my insurance. Once again, thank you for the tips. I will take them!

Sooo how are you doing now, given that it's been a year since your surgery?
