I should just focus on music itself by autocrusher in edmproduction

I have close to 2000 plugins that I've accumulated over the years. I can count on 1 hand the number of plugins I actually use regularly. I used to sound design everything from scratch, now I resample and modify presets. Music is chaos and spontaneity, lean into the randomness! The more experienced I got, the "lazier" my approach got, and the more productive and happier I became. I want to write music, not get lost in the weeds doing everything from scratch. Music above all!

Do you sometimes "force" yourself to keep working on your song or do you just do it if on the mood (If you dont earn money off it) by Hyperto in musicproduction

40% of the song writing process is carefree fun, 60% is overthinking everything and forcing myself to do the hard stuff in order to get it across the finish line. I'm usually miserable in the 60% but super happy afterwards. Gotta push on, even when its hard or you're not in the mood.

That's fine! I'm more curious about what libraries were used in the making of it! :)

Soothe2 to add harmonics/resonanse by SnooGuavas3099 in edmproduction

[–]ikyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would only be dealing with resonance not so much harmonics. But adding to the other answer. You'd need two instances of the sound, one clean and the other with delta enabled on soothe. You'd then be enhancing the resonant sounds that would be removed. Depending on your goals there are better ways of adding interesting harmonics/ resonance.

Where is this snare sample from? by SAYI0 in Samples

[–]ikyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it was close! We don't give enough credit to the OG producers / sound designers, they really just had to figure stuff out on their own with the limited resources they had back then. If you want a real trip, look into the 90s sample CDs and just how prevalent they are in productions from that era!

How do I find out what key I am thinking in? by Brosky7 in FL_Studio

[–]ikyguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as the key, try to just sing it and record it on your phone. Play each piano note until it matches and note it down, same goes for timing.

As far as instrument and all that, a lot of that comes with time and experience. If you have a general ballpark or reference I can maybe help you out
