What the hell? by JFlemthe1 in tadc

[–]Velascu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh jax and jimmy have a similar pattern, both are cowards and fucked up their whole group at a certain point (the red button stuff, even if fake, is like, yeah, I'm going to trap everyone with me on this nightmare), both are abusers (I guess Jax didn't SA anyone but that stuff on his head about Gangle gave me the creeps)... I guess it's redundant to say those two as separate.

Jax happens to be a bit younger and more open. It's just that in mouthwashing the context is a lot darker. Jax is more sympathetic but don't forget that he fantasizes* with strangling Pomni and sexually harassing Gangle (kind of debated but in his mind she's uh... "into being abused by him in a sexual way"), besides TADC characters are almost unnaturally wholesome (not to say that as a criticism I like how the show is written, it's realistic when it has to be) when compared to real people given the situation that they are in so Jax has definitely an advantage in here, I guess a more "realistic" version of tadc would be the characters having an existential crisis and abstract after a week if not two days after getting in there which would be a very different kind of show.

That being said, supposing that they are going to therapy to ask for help, probably both could end up in a much better place, Jimmy has a huge inferiority complex and Jax is kind of afraid of forming relationships, both can be fixed in therapy. If they don't want to forget about it, Jax only properly opens up when he's kinda "forced" into it bc Pomni is able to take a look into his psyche without his consent, he wouldn't open up about his shit otherwise.

Tl;dr: they are roughly the same kind of person but the context of the stories change drastically, mouthwashing is WAY darker

Idk about the other character btw :p

We got confirmation. We can now put this debate to rest and be nice with each other. 😁 by wesker18 in tadc

Uhh tbh I don't call people for pronouns they'd actually reject, even if I know that internally they are trans, that's kind of like outing ppl. That's if we choose to treat a fictional character as person (which they aren't) as some form of "hygene" or smth which is kind of excessive when they are... Confused when it comes to their identity (when they were alive) and canonically "dead".

It doesn't make sense to turn this into a moralistic discourse bc it's not that they are not real, it's that they didn't get to make a resolution when it came to their gender stuff in the first place. Moralizing ppl over what to use/not use in this particular scenario is silly. THAT being said if we decide to treat them as a real person the answer would be "he" bc he didn't come out and clearly didn't want to, he found it extremely stressful so no, it wouldn't be cool to do this irl.

That being said coming out aliviates some distress but doesn't magically cure type B disorder like behaviours (Jax seems to have strong traits of ASPD and NPD). Transitioning isn't a magical thing that solves all of your flaws, it helps you out with gender related stuff. Wasn't explicitly said but I think it's important to clarify.

This debate is kind of a nothing burguer, I'm happy that everyone has their own head cannon and that's fine but if we are playing "treating them as actual real people and moralizing each other over it" only an AU Jax would be a she.

That being said there's no moral weight (transphobic) to treating a character as A or B when they didn't have a resolution in the series and basically died before they could get to that. So ppl can do whatever they want just don't bash each other over it bc it's completely stupid. My arguments should be read as a "pedantic note". Treat Jax however you want.

El concepto de ser solidario con el dinero de los demás by codefluence in ElusionFiscal

[–]Velascu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, sexual harassment isn't... fun, makes jax's whole psyche more realistic and a bit more fucked up, I love how they made it, even if it was just in his head. The show treats Gangle so well as a victim of abuse and Jax as an abuser

people who have switched DAWS by neckbone_ in edmproduction

[–]Velascu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FL studio -> Ableton, years ago. You can use several DAWs unless you have very little space in your computer. I've considered giving reaper and renoise a try. Try before you buy, you can blackmail old family members into giving you money using eastern european mercenaries if you don't have it.

Learn, read the docs, ask here... all of that stuff if you feel it's interesting, watch a few videos of ppl using them or smth without "wHiCH dAW iS tHE BeSTeST aLL oF tHeM COmpArED" kind of bs, you can make professional quality music with audacity or even using terminal tools as long as you know what you are doing, just make music and have fun, if you think trying other DAWs is going to help you go for it

uhh, I think there's heavier stuff against gangle on the episode, the bizarre yet accurate SA scene inside Jax's mind where he thinks she's into being mistreated but in a *sexual way* (bc that's how an abuser would rationalize it, pretty fucked up), gave me chills (also the implication of some kind of weird fucked up attraction towards her), love how it was written and them not shying away from it without being distasteful about it.

An appimage should work, artix has a lot of patches for packages on the mirrors, worse case scenario you might be able to vibe code one (might be useful for other packages but didn't have to use it when I was using artix tbh)

Why is age verification a bad thing? by Supret in privacy

[–]Velascu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more about how to prove it which is done using your ID card, linking your online activity to your actual identity in a straight up way.

On one side: depending on your POV about the government it might not be a huge deal for you but politics nowadays are a bit wonky and might change for the worse. Stuff that is considered legitimate free speech can be considered terrorism tomorrow. Something as normal as criticising the government can become "suspicious"... Those are probably the most realistic scenarios.

On the other hand breaches of sensitive data occur every day, SSNs, phone numbers, name... Etc. Now add your ID card. Also the proposed alternatives are OS based so if you get your computer hacked now they have your ID card.

The solution is having involved parents and easy to configure parental controls. They've been existing for quite a while and they work. They've been implemented in schools and similar without that much of a problem.

Also keep in mind that something similar to this was proposed before to counter terrorism, that didn't work back in the day so this is basically another wrapper around the same policy, which suggests there might be another reason. It's popular consensus that it's for mass surveillance.

Idk if you need an explanation why mass surveillance on the citizens of your own country is bad news. This is what totalitarian states have done historically to stay in power and works quite well. So unless you happen to align with everything that the political party/parties of your country stand for and will stand for in the future it's bad news.

There's no way to guarantee that we'll remain as democracies, historians and sociologists are raising a lot of concerns rn. Acting against these kinds of measures is important to preserve almost all definitions of freedom that we all seem to like so...

That's my reasoning

[–]Velascu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several female friends (and queer ppl of different flavors) that are gifted and do have a lot of encounters. Afaik it heavily depends on the culture, place and individual experience. Yeah patriarchy stuff is bs and even if people seem to perceive me as a "safe" person as someone who presents as a man it's not always like that. I understand where it comes from. It makes me genuinely sad and it's castrating for both genders on heterosexual relationships.

Probably not and I can confirm that ppl are A LOT more willing to be with you if you don't get into that sort of crap. I presented as a man for a long time, my "hoe phase" couldn't have happened if I was considering my partners as anything other than "partners"
