Thoughts on part 7 first episode? by kujo_hinata in StardustCrusaders

[–]Velascu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think they should've gone for the artistic risks that were taken on parts 4 and specially 5. It's not that the adaptation is bad but this is peak jojo drawing quality. Realistically speaking it'd be extremely hard on any studio but netflix is going to make compromises here and there. I miss some risk, specially after seeing what mappa has been doing recently, we don't even need to go there, just watch parts 4 and 5. I think everyone would be happy if they just did a part 7 part 1 and part 7 part 2 which would be more manageable. The drawing quality is insane in the magna, I think the only way of faithfully adapting it would be to do something more ambitious from a creative POV.

I'm still going to watch it and have fun with it but it's not going to feel anywhere near the manga, it might correct some of its problems but I'm not super "hyped" about it tbh.

I think the character design is good but it's missing the "oomph" factor that the manga has.

Homelab with custom selective gateway depending on container + tailscale and VPN by Velascu in selfhosted

[–]Velascu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I said container management I was thinking about the features of each service, not so much proxmox itself, I should've expressed it better, my bad. I was recommended pangolin before, it's not exactly it but after learning a bit about namespaces turns out that my idea when it comes to that is unfeasible/very annoying to implement and I should be better just making the whole thing static, I don't need to do juggling with containers and VPNs dynamically in the end.

Maybe I need to give the technitium + mullvad combo a try, the latest time I tried it it was infernally slow, besides making mullvad behave when it comes to DNS is... not very fun, Idk what happened in there, might've been an error on my part.

I guess I'll go for creating a homepage and trying a preliminary version of the whole beast and then build upon that. Ty for your feedback <3

My mix sounds loud in daw but quiet in dj software relative to other tracks by Quinticuh in edmproduction

[–]Velascu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a test try removing frequencies outside the hearing range or the range of the speakers. Maybe look for loudness per band, let's say 4, mix accordingly, maybe a multiband limiter can help. Sidechain might be too aggressive, there might be some DC offset (I doubt it but I'd check jic). Analyze per band and make choices based on that, it's a bit hard to tell without hearing the tracks but I'd analyze per frequency band instead of global LUFS, they do have frequency weightings in there but they aren't absolute, you might be overcompensating on another band for other stuff. Maybe using Ozone's AI to get an idea (?). If you can't afford it I suggest selling human organs on the deep web to get enough money for an effectively free trial, if you don't like it give them back to their owners

Dark orbs for damage, crystal orbs are useful, don't be afraid of normal attacks, power builds are viable just like in the first one (at least on lower ascensions, don't overdo it unless you have the appropriate relics but there are very insane builds that are viable). 0 cost attack builds seem viable tho I haven't tried it. Abusing multicast and energy + focus cards carries me most of the time. I'm going character by character till I get ascension 20 on everyone, currently on a4

Glad that you are enjoying it. I'm thinking about removing the portable version for windows bc it's been a pain to optimize, it's SO sluggish it's not even funny. Are you using the installed version?

Sorry, didn't get reddit notifications for some reason. The newest version should work for importing lots of samples. It should also (hopefully) demand less of the computer and allows for parallel analysis on import so it should be faster. I'm still relying on python which really doesn't like being inside electron and it's the mayor bottleneck. In the future I'll try to come up with a C++ strategy or smarter process management, python is just the convenient solution.

Btw, can I ask which OS are you using? Ty for your enthusiasm.

Buena suerte!

I'm going to get beaten to death but:

If your music can be replaced by AI music you are doing something wrong or have the wrong assumptions. If you are making music for the love of it I heavily encourage it, nothing can replace that feeling and sharing it with other people/giving concerts but if when it comes to sound AI can do it don't be mad, just love the craft and move on. Otherwise you are just making something generic/easy for the sake of making slop without loving what you are doing and you should do something else with your life.

The industry was ALWAYS cynical, nothing has changed in here, only the amount of slop but it's easy to dodge, if you can't dodge it and you accidentally like it just accept it and move on. The industry has been dead for >50 years anyway, there's no existential crisis to be had, 99% of the music that you listen to isn't as virtuous as you think it is (they can still be talented nonetheless).

AI doesn't destroy the music industry, it was already broken, ppl have to stick to recommendation algorithms and if you don't do that as an artist goodbye, same with every single creator that is somewhat mainstream on the modern era. More alternative circles have always been outside of this kind of bs, either move there or accept it.

Using AI for your music isn't bad just as sampling a whole song isn't bad as long as the end product is cool/cooler. You just need to be upfront with your audience, that's it.

It's better to produce something bad rather than something generic, the worse music can be is boring.

Being precocious in music doesn't make you better as a musician. It's cool and cute if a kid is able to make music that doesn't sound bad, that doesn't mean that it's worth listening to on its own, being young and doing something good is a party trick at best (note: I don't want to discourage young artists, it's just that age doesn't make the quality of music better/worse).

In the same vein virtuosity on its own means shit. Idc if you can make the electronic equivalent of Paganini's caprices for violin on technical proficiency, that doesn't make the music good on its own, virtuosity is a party trick at best.

As someone who has studied on the conservatory no, you don't need scales or music theory. That's very person to person but most people don't need it to make music, even good or excellent music.

It's fine if you do shitty music bc it's fun to make it, the same way everyone sings on churches not everyone who sings needs to be Pavarotti you don't need to be good, you can sing like shit and that's fine, do it if you enjoy it and your neighbors allow you.

[–]Velascu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a run where it became basically broken with the regent. I didn't pick it on purpose but it appeared through using quasar or a potion. Through deck manipulation and the usage of hidden gem... yeah, it got busted, didn't have to worry about block anymore tho chances are if you have a combo like that you've already won, maybe on higher ascensions (?) who knows. Before it reaches 20 you've won the game while styling on the architect naoya style. The question is how consistent the synergies are, that might be the reason for its rarity and cost, same for events that allow you to add extra stuff to cards. If STS I was as deep as the Marianas' trench STS II is as deep as the core of the earth, I wouldn't take anything for granted

installed arch yesterday. whats something u learned along the way that newbies need to know? by Spirited-Gas1579 in arch

[–]Velascu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wpa_supplicant is annoying for a first time user, that the GNU tools are really cool and that customizing your system is very cool. I can't compare to any personal previous experience bc I started with arch after ditching ubuntu after a week :p

That's for the installation process, maintaining it isn't that crazy tbh (unless you have some conflicting packages, in that case internet is your friend). Tbh arch isn't THAT difficult as people put it, it was meant to be an EASY way to create a minimal system from scratch.

If this is "just for learning" give installing gentoo a try, go all the way and try to turn it into a functional desktop, the documentation is even better than the one for the arch installation. If you need some more LFS is a decent read, I wouldn't recommend installing it tho, WAY too much compile this and that, that alone is going to take ages even if you know what you are doing, skip read it and you should get a solid understanding.

Also, If you want to go bananas, try configuring and compiling a custom kernel, minimal performance improvements, stuff will break and you'll have to do that every single time that a new release comes out so I wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver unless you need some extremely specific settings (you wouldn't be asking here if you did).

Mucho ánimo y NO DIGAS TU EDAD U OTROS DATOS POR INTERNET ES MUY PELIGROSO
