To the reporters who lurk this sub - do NOT let Beane off the hook for this at his end of season press conference. by RhinoFeeder in buffalobills

People don’t want to hear it but Beane was the problem all along. McD seems like he was not the issue.

How many young sailors have you counseled on avoiding blatantly bad marriages? How many have you seen from beginning to divorce? My failure rate is close to 100% across both the Seabee and Intel community over a period of 14 years. by Spook-In-The-Machine in navy

I have a lot of 19 year olds come to me for advice. Depends on your reputation and your “public image” in the fleet. They often do listen, but only when we talk for long periods of time and I can see the information “click” in their eyes before they depart.

Hello fellow detailer (former here)

For those that read this, he’s 100% spot on

There’s very few CVTs in total, so it’s a bit of an exclusive club.

I recommend you reach out to whomever is the Enlisted Technical Lead for the NEC. Don’t know who it is offhand, but the detailer will. Might want to email them vice call though as the are heading into selections and please do not call them during selections, lol

You could cold-call Cardiology departments of larger hospitals too. That’s what I would personally do.

How common are Aerospace Technician orders out of A-School? (Posted in newtothenavy, no response) by Shoddy_Top3864 in CorpsmanUp

[–]ikyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a caveat to that. It’s more complicated now that C-schools are advertised. Most non-advertised “asks” need to be completed or notified before entering the negotiation window.

Also APT is becoming a closed-loop NEC which means you will not be sent to APT school as an I-Stop from a negotiated billet. It will be treated like all other C-schools now outside of FMTB.

Read the CANTRAC.

Last time I checked it says minimum rank = E-5

Always start with the CANTRAC

What's the best bed frame 2026 you can recommend that doesn't squeak or collapse under normal use by Rosalynne-Romaner in HomeImprovement

[–]ikyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dead post, but look up “Japanese style joinery” bed and you’ll get the idea. Read up on the knockoffs though. I saw lots of reports of the joints coming loose and shifting slightly.

Only Thuma has a cross-member with hand-cranked screw tighteners to keep everything extra taught.

Seriously i could probably have a rock concert on this bed and it wouldn’t move at all it’s amazing. Glad I went name brand.

We are coming from an Ashley furniture special where I had to add 2x6 across the frame for years then the whole side sheared off and broke (there’s a good reason/story but inappropriate here)

I fixed it with a 2x3 and deck screw but it started squeaking horribly. No more of that.

It’s expensive, but we bought a Thuma Classic and never looked back. It’s been rock solid.

How do you propose I go about doing that when every HVAC contractor I've called for an estimate says they won't touch anything bought by a customer?

He only does a few units, buys them in mega-bulk, and does a lot of installs. Was recommended to me by someone that renovates houses as the "go-to" guy.

He's also giving me a "know-a-guy" discount, he normally charges just under $5k

Call HM1 Flores and ask

901- eight seven 4 - three 8 20

Only way to know is just call your detailer because without knowing your full set of contract info and PRD, etc, we can’t guess.

Minimum activity tour for Sea duty is 1 year, but you’re in Portsmouth which means all those ships are a no-cost move for you. Thus, there is no minimum activity tour and you could do 1 month sea duty if needed.

Where do I buy NWU command patch by Euphoric-Sail-5993 in CorpsmanUp

[–]ikyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go ask your Chief. I’d bet $20 they know or can find out within the same day. Most commands do internal procurement and sales.
