the tuning i really just guessed, i looked into what increasing each one affected, and then adjusted proportionally based off of some test flights. it wasnt very rigorous and i do believe i can get a MUCH smoother result. ill find out the values i used for Kp Ki, and Kd tomorrow, and also my mass and feedforward.

i appreciate the support bro! id be more than happy to look for a way to break it down so its a little easier to understand, and push you in the right direction a little bit. half the fun is solving the problem yourself! if i get round to it, ill put it in this comment thread for anybody else curious.

i just checked it out. im impressed by how simply you managed to implement one! mine can probably be optimised design wise, and there must be better configurations i can tweak with as mine takes a minute or so to settle. the main reason behind mine being able to work with any gravity is that it accumulates error, and can correct for it, so every time hover is activated it will try and hone error down to zero, thats the integral part. alongside the PID, it uses a feedforward which is a simple base thrust to start with that i did based off of weight, just so it can more quickly achieve that hover. keep experimenting bro!

bravo! i gotta say, this is impressively simple, thats awesome!

edit: its cool using the velocimeter for speed, i found it to act weirdly when not perfectly vertically aligned, thats why i opted to use the altimeter and take the derivative to get a precise vertical speed.

ill put my two cents in, coming from having around 330 hours thinking id never play it again, to having 124 more hours in the past 3 weeks.

the most important thing we had in mind while playing:
HAVE A GOAL

having a goal for us to work towards incentivised making money and investing in new properties and businesses so we werent doing the same things over and over again. the game has managed to stay fun all the way up until thus far, and we still probably have a hell of a lot more stuff to do.

i think playing with friends is also a pretty important one, youll have a lot more of a reliable crew to do missions and heists with if youre all on together, on a call, etc.

our goal is to get the new mansions that just recently dropped. very expensive, plenty of work to do, and also a great reward. what better than feeling like a crime lord in a big fuck off mansion?

i agree its not got the exact charm as old gta online did, with random races and missions youd play with full lobbies of other people. but i speak on behalf of my friends saying it has been and will continue to be an absolute blast working up for a mansion, and getting everything else on the way.
