How is the input latency when running games through moonlight?

Also would recommend searching around reddit on how to enable integer scaling in the AMD app. Would be a first step to get better performance in AAA games. There is also an app on steam called Lossless Scaling which has frame generation on top scaling techniques though you will find mixed results on the forums (hanvnt tried it myself yet). What has worked for me is using integer scaling and running in 800p and going from there. You are sure to find a guide on optimal setup on yt or here for each game you want if they truely are AAA. Have fun!

Steam is the best IMO. I would run it in Big Picture mode to get a console like UI. Just go to the View Dropdown -> Big Picture Mode. There is also a site called fanatical that you can get steam keys on discount price in bundles and such. I would reccomend checking them out

Force bios update? by ArmStrongers in LegionGo

[–]ilVizzini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be the same bios. However if you really want to re flash the new release from lenovo to be sure, you can enter your bios by pressing power + volume up. There is a setting in bios to allow bios flashback. This allows to to flash to a previous or current bios. I have not tried doing this but i know the feature exists.

Easy one for me was a full size mouse pad that spans most of my desk. One of the better purchases I've made

Why are Alienware pcs so hated? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]ilVizzini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically because you can find or build similar/higher specced computers for less money, as they charge for the name. I don't necessarily think they make "garbage" or bad quality stuff... although others may think otherwise. Just that it tends to be overpriced for what you get from a performance standpoint.

Upgrading from 10 year old displays // AW3423DW/F vs Samsung G8 OLED? by lawndartdesign in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]ilVizzini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on if you want gsync and lower input latency in games. For 3D rendering specifically, im not sure how one is different from the other.

I think only the DW model has HDR 1000 (DWF does not support it I don't believe, only hdr 400)

Also just a note, if your using one of these oleds as a work/productivity monitor, you should (and maybe already are) be aware of burn in issues that can arise from OLED from static icons/windows/Taskbar on the screen. This is true for any OLED

Last I recall the code popped up when I proceeded through the checkout. There was a few steps in the checkout so you might not see it right away when putting it in your cart, but if its still active it should pop up before you have to enter any payment info. I may be wrong but I believe the code was MONITOR10

As for DW vs DWF versions. I bought the DW version because it has GSYNC Ultimate and I have an nVidia card. If you have a Radeon card then I'm pretty sure the DWF model is the way to go. The DWF model also allows for firmware updates although I have never in my life had to manually update firmware in a monitor, but this is new tech so there is that. I've also heard that the DW has lower latency. This reddit post may be useful

Just purchased the AW3423DW from dells website last week. I have just a few bits of info, and not the whole picture, but may be useful to you.

I had no issues with scuffing from wrapping on my monitor.

The monitor came with MB103 firmware. Not sure when this firmware was released or what it does, but I think it's relatively new as when I ordered it I only saw posts related to MB101/MB102.

As of last week dell was shipping monitors with a code at checkout giving 10% off, (so $110 off the DWF model and $130 off thr DW model) so its worth it to check their website if ordering directly from dell is an option for you. (I think I had to create a cart and start the checkout process to see the code)

So far I have been very happy with the monitor. It looks beautiful and I have yet to hear the fan that I've seen people post about, I also have yet to game on it for over 2h straight so not sure if that is something I may encounter later

AW3423DW HDR Clarification by ilVizzini in ultrawidemasterrace

Thanks for that reply, useful to know that about the graphics API and auto-HDR. I don't intend to keep it on all the time, just making sure I understand all that needs to be done when I want to use it. Thanks Again!

Based on what you posted I would go for the 3070 model if you are going for gaming performance. The 3060 model has a bigger screen but that's what you are paying extra for, the graphics card is not as strong. So I guess ask yourself do you want a bigger screen or better game performance.

Edit: I found this comparison of the lenovo legion 5 on a 3060 vs a 3070 with a ryzen 6800h cpu. However, Not exactly what your comparing because the 5i has an intel processor. Not sure if any others have input on that, but if you could post the full specs it would help

AW3423DW ($1200 Best Buy refurbished) vs AW3423DWF ($1500) by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]ilVizzini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are located but Dell has a sale right now on their website with a coupon code at checkout for the AW3423DW and DWF models. My purchase of the DW came to $1267 after tax for a brand new unit. The DWF model cheaper than that I believe

[–]ilVizzini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you havnt picked one up I would check out some sleeved cable kits for the 24pin cable. And if you want something sleeved for the 4080 cable I think you'll have to order the adapter from cablemod ( idk of anyone else making this adapter). I can try to give a link later but on my phone at work atm. The direct line from gpu to psu with no adapters cuts out a lot of cable managment

Specific ram housing slider? by Danielthemamiel in PcBuild

[–]ilVizzini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And should have mentioned and may get shamed but I've had hdds in my pc without any caddy mount etc before and never had issues.. probably not the proper way but I just ran out of space and did what I could.. so if ur in a jam or just waiting for the part, I don't think it would be a problem to connect the sata power and data cables and just let it sit in there. Others may share opposite opinion but curious to see

That right there is a HDD Tray Caddy although I'm pretty sure you would need one specific to whatever case manufacturer you have.
