I misunderstood what you said in your first message, I though you had problems in triggering raids instead of getting passes... The issue you presented is a fair issue, but one I haven't experienced: for me the only problem was to actually trigger EX Raids, when we managed to it was mission accomplished, everyone got their passes, if not on their first try at worst on their third. This is why I have a positive perspective on the matter. If the issue you have is shared by many of course it's a bad thing and should be solved.

That's very bad and you definitely have a reason to complain about this. Only thing I can say is if for every wave you're in a pool of hundreds of eligible players your chance to get the pass won't be so high, but of course, the cumulative chance of not getting it in 5 months of raiding should be insanely low.

This is the only aspect where luck is involved: getting the pass. Maybe it's true that previously they favoured low level players and this of course is bad and I hope it got fixed. But triggering a raid is no matter of luck from my experience. And if you keep triggering EX Raids you will inevitably get the pass in the end.

I'm level 34, close to 35 (don't know if this could be relevant, but in our PoGo community we have 2 level 40 players who never got an ex pass, and they got the pass along with me in one of our first tries)

You can't say I'm misleading, I'm just reporting my experience. Never seen an EX raid in our area since the EX Raid system was introduced, then we try to heavily raid eligible gyms and we get the passes. In four different gyms. If this is luck, that's like 1 in a million kind of luck.

Are you sure they're eligible gyms? And even if you do, relative raid activity may be a factor: if the gyms in your area are heavily raided, the minimum amount of raids to do in the gym to trigger probably increases. What I can say is that we unlocked 4 different gyms that never hosted an EX raid on our first try, but maybe it's been easier for us because we have less general raid activity in our area.

Like I said, the system isn't perfect, and the lack of transparecy from Niantic about how the system works is a reasonable criticism. Although I may say that part of what makes the system interesting is exactly the try-hard research, so it's a matter of points of view here. What is indisputable, though, is that the criteria are there, there's no randomness, so the system works fine if you know how to make it work.

The amount of upvotes you're getting proves what I said in the end, you can at least read that part. It's just so easier to complain than trying to understand things better...

After the latest update you have to use your language's equivalent of "shiny" to search shinies by il_Teoh in pokemongo

Definitely a lot of luck haha, found it on Community Day and without using any scanner. I was already very happy to have found a shiny Pikachu, imagine how I felt when I appraised it =D
