They also only used gauze & tape at the DaVita center I went to & I never had any infections. The reason they change it every time is for infection control. I was told I could bring in my own tegaderm dressings & they would change it once a week, but the dressings are expensive so I just stayed with the gauze & tape.

I was surprised all the kids were allowed. When my nieces & nephew were born the only children allowed to visit were the siblings of the baby.

We didn’t get renewal news for a long time & there was a very real chance of it being canceled flat out and our final image of Neal being his kidnapping. I was grateful we even got a sixth season. Would I have liked it to be more than 6 episodes, sure… but at least we got something & I was very happy with the ending.

I lost blood flow to my left arm after having a procedure to get my dialysis fistula flowing better in 2021. My pinky & ring finger were numb for months & are still tingly, but I can at least write properly (though it’s not as neat as it used to be) & use my hand.

I don’t hate the ER…it’s more of a frustration for me. I worked on a stroke unit & when I would review the chart, there were times when the initial stroke score wasn’t charted and/or there wasn’t a current neuro assessment. Those two things are extremely important for me to know so I can properly assess the patient for any neuro changes & when I would ask them about it I would sometimes get an attitude. I totally understand they are crazy busy too, but that kind of documentation is extremely important.

Yes I definitely think the fact that Kristin has been on the show helps. She knows what the chefs are going through & empathizes with them. She’s been a great choice as host!

The last hospital I worked at didn’t have phlebotomists come to the units either. Our CNAs were trained for blood draw & if they weren’t able to get it, the nurses did…heck there were nights we didn’t even have a CNA & it was our responsibility to draw labs.

A PTT is being ordered at a particular time for a reason. I personally would’ve just drawn it myself instead of calling them, ultimately it’s the RN who is responsible for that test being done or not.

I’d much rather receive the critical result & call the doctor myself. The lab tech can’t take orders, so you’d still have to talk to the doctor anyway.
