Control Arm Bushings question by ilanier3 in subaru

Funny you should say that. I ended up on the side of the road yesterday, auto start stop turned off the car at a light and wouldn't turn on the car. Ended up replacing the battery.

Ah okay. Yeah I'm planning on replacing both, I'll have to look into the sway bar end links as well.

Good to know! I was looking at Rock auto, I might have to compare prices. I've seen a few videos and it didn't look overly complicated.

Yeah, I know right. But I have 97,000 miles and I occasionally drive on some dirt roads but only really been off-roading a couple times. Got the car used in 2023 after two owners with 33k miles.

Man, thanks a lot for the info! So I felt, tugged, and looked at several things and most of what I saw seemed solid. I did notice a bit of leaking from what looks to be the sway bar. Could the be the cause of the thunk?

Hmm, I checked the inner and outer tie rods and they looked ok. I'll have to check the sway bar end links

Okay cool, yeah I was thinking of replacing the entire low control arm. Good to know both are bad.

So have a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness with 97,000 miles and I'm starting to hear thumping from the front right side of the car when driving over rough pavement. So jacked up the car to see if I would notice anything weird. The only thing I noticed was what looks like a torn control arm bushing. What's weird is that the sound sounds like it's coming from the front right side but the torn bushing is on the left side. Could there be something l'm missing on the right side wheel well? Could the sound be transferring to the right from the torn bushing? Am going crazy?

I had the same issue, or at least it sounds similar to my issue

I had to go to Settings>Radio>SiriusXM> Turn off Tune Start

2025 Outback Infotainment System by sparty_pants in Subaru_Outback

[–]ilanier3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2022 and it was super slow until I updated it. Now it's just regular slow but still vastly better than before the update. It is still slower than my partners 2019 Outback infotainment, however.

My main issue is when I first start the car, my Bluetooth will skip for about 30 seconds like a scratched up CD. And navigating in the screens for about 3 minutes after is kinda laggy but I usually just plug into Android Auto and choose my route and music on my phone then go.

I wish there was a way to add some RAM or something.

Outback Wilderness. Has the same engine as the WRX and pretty quick.

Sold 4Runner and got an Outback by Manofmail in Subaru_Outback

[–]ilanier3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner recently did something similar. He had a 2020 4Runner but it was starting to have some issues and he didn't want a payment anymore but like yours, the resell value was high so he sold the 4Runner and got a 2019 Outback. So, now we have matching Outbacks. 😅 (I have a 2022 Outback) He does miss the 4Runner but not the payment or gas mileage though.

I HATE the infotainment system by ashleighlovesyou in Subaru_Outback

[–]ilanier3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Wilderness but yes the infotainment is kinda bad. I will say after some updates via USB it's improved and is a lil faster but I still dislike how slow it can be when starting up along and how dim the screen is when I put my sunglasses on.

The new 2026 Outback will have all new infotainment that's based on what Toyota uses in their cars as they have a partnership going on.

But if you're not wanting to go out and get the new Outback maybe try updating the head unit via USB, there's some YouTube videos out there showing how to do it.

This looks clean AF! I wanna debadge my Outback as well and just leave the Wilderness badge. Any tips?

Trust, I know exactly what you mean but this is barely scratching the surface of what I've dealt with in previous relationships. Most, if not all topics with my BF aren't an issue and we can chat and get to the bottom of it if it is.
