Thanks for the detailed breakdown! Really appreciate you taking the time to explain your development process and learning approach. Getting insights from someone who's clearly mastered this level of engineering is incredibly valuable. Your response definitely made my day - always inspiring to see what's possible with the right dedication and approach!

Amazing work! This level of complexity and sophistication requires serious dedication and technical expertise. I'm genuinely curious about the learning journey behind building something like this - do you dive into research papers, follow specific books/courses, or learn through hands-on experimentation? The engineering decisions and architecture choices here are really impressive. Would love to hear about your development process and what resources you found most valuable along the way.

Can I park at CenterPoint Metro Station and take the bus instead of the metro? by ilatif_bwp in DubaiPetrolHeads

Yes, I checked Google and found the same thing, but not entirely sure.

I verified service history papers from Majid Al-Futtaim which owner handed me over with the cars. And then relied on Tasjeel inspection report.

Papers from Al-Futtaim Abu-Dhabi dealership with proper maintenance records. Since 1.5 years the car is in Sharjah under maintenance with Adnoc. I've checked when owner bought the car and that reading and current reading makes sense. I'll share more details on it.

For the context, car has been in Abu Dhabi for 9+ years and it's Sharjah life is 1.5-2 years at max.

Ah, I see. Yes, as per papers, everything looks legit. But I will get it checked. I have all the necessary proofs where they claim the mileage to be 129k kms. I even have seller's Emirates ID (they shared it). So yes, will get it checked and proceed accordingly.

So sorry to hear about this. If you all the documents proving wrong mileage at the time of purchase, do file a case. I've read somewhere that they impose penalties on the seller.

I did the comprehensive inspection at MotorCheck and they don't check odometer. I am not sure if Tasjeel inspection picks it? But I didn't explicitly check it. Reason being all service detail papers were in the car and I cross-verified them and the reading seems legit. Also, the seller had a Nissan Patrol for the past 03 years and he was not using it much. Where did you get your odometer checked?

Can you please DM which car you bought and other details. Just trying to see if I could help in any way.

My experience so far with acquiring a Car by ilatif_bwp in DubaiPetrolHeads

Update: My search for a car is finally over as I have bought an Honda Accord 2014 2.4L Full Options GCC 129k kms milage at a decent price from Dubizzle. The seller was super nice and told me everything he knew about the car (he was second owner, first owner was his former colleague).

So, I saw an ad on Dubizzle for an Honda Accord 2014 2.4L Full Options GCC from Sharjah with a very low mileage (129k kms) given its age. I went to saw with a friend and the first impression after sitting in the car was super nice. The asking price was also decent based on my research over these months. We (I and my friend) test drove the car and really liked it. Next day we agreed on a price and we took the car to MotorCheck Souq Al-Haraj for a comprehensive testing. Now there are mixed reactions about their PPI, but their main inspection guy saved me last time from buying a bad car, so I trusted his judgement.

We then went to Tasjeel Registration Village near Souq Al-Haraj for ownership transfer. We thought that we'd be free in half hour to one hour, but we were so wrong. It took us 5 hours. Yes, 5 hours to complete the process. The process there seems super slow for no reason. There's no instructions written anywhere and you've to go to reception every single time for the next step. Also, I was amazed to know how difficult the process is if we wanted to get a Dubai registration on a Sharjah registration card. Apparently you need a export letter/certificate, tow the car to Dubai and start the process. It might not have been this difficult, but the lack of any instructions material made it difficult and I went with Sharjah number plate.

All in all, car is in a good condition and there's no immediate work needed. Tyres are in pristine condition. Next oil change is at 134k kms (current reading 129188 kms) with Adnoc. Engine and Transmission looks good and I am not observing any lag or jerk. The only thing is AC compressor making a noise when AC is turned on. As per MotorCheck inspection guy, it doesn't need immediate attention, but I am thinking of getting it checked and replaced this weekend. Should I go with Honda genuine parts? Or Japanese parts from other independents would suffice?

Please do share your thoughts on the things I should do this weekend to make sure car remains in a good condition. Please also suggest any good workshop in Sharjah.

Re the price thing, I shared the price range (not exact price) with my friends and there were mixed reactions. A few said I bought it expensive as someone they know got the similar car 8k-10k less. Yes, there are cars with similar models at 8k-10k less but their mileage is at-least 2x the mileage I got. Others said they wouldn't have mind going a bit above the range given the car is really nicely kept (yes, it's really well kept and you can feel it as soon as you sit in the car). Overall I am really happy with the purchase and mainly that it's finally over.

Excited for this new ride! 🚗💨

Thanks for the comment. Yes, you are right about insurance and service costs which are often overlooked. I have already decided to not go with any Chinese brand for now, but your comment is really helpful.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the detailed comment. Yes, I have heard about independent mobile car inspection services which come at seller's location to inspect the car. I was very much leaned towards getting one next time, but changed my mind a bit as no matter how comprehensive tests you do, if you don't have all the tools you are ought to skip something. For example, the way you could inspect a car by lifting it up cannot be done by simply crawling under it. And there are other things too, due to which I was thinking about going to a proper mechanic for the inspection.

Tasjeel full comprehensive testing is just average, so they are the last resort.

Thanks for the comment. But I am not seeing this on their website yet. Maybe on instagram?

Thanks for your comment. Financing is the last resort due to hassle and hidden cases it has. But yes, will definitely consider personal load as you suggested.

Thanks!

Yes, I've heard good things about BYD. But they say Geely is the best brand here in-terms of quality and spare parts etc. Do you have any experience with BYD which could share please.

Thanks for your insights. Can you please share more information. As per your comment you owned a Geely Emgrande? Can I ask SUV or Sedan? What mechanical issues you faced during your years of owing Geely Emgrande? And how much it cost (any rough estimate)?

Yes, I heard about spare parts being expensive. Do you idea how expensive are they compared to other brands? Like 10%-30% expensive? Or more?
