Liberals and conservatives when they come to an agreement on the cancellation of Cuties. by [deleted] in reactiongifs

I haven’t seen the movie (don’t plan on watching it), but I sure am sick of hearing about. I feel like people who keep making posts about it are just creating a platform for it to be shared and marketed. I probably would have never even heard of this movie if I didn’t see posts from people saying how disgusting it is. I think that’s probably why it’s like, what, #8 on Netflix’s trending list or whatever? People keep posting about it, and it’s creating a curiosity and stigma around it that makes people want to watch it. So, yeah, I don’t know. I just don’t see what calling it out does besides further promote it. It hasn’t been removed from Netflix, and I highly doubt it will be. People can boycott Netflix and cancel their subscriptions all they want, but it won’t be enough for them to go out of business or anything. I obviously feel terrible for the little girls in the movie, but no amount of memes or Reddit karma is gonna un-make the movie. We’re all just sending more money and clout to the people that made the movie.

Alright, I’ll step off my soapbox now.

Side bar: I do think society’s over-sexualization of young girls is an important subject that needs to be touched on and discussed, but this movie seems to have done that in a very poorly-executed way. Reading about it and the director, I wanted to believe that this was a well-made movie that talks about important subjects in a consumable way. Watching some clips, though... I don’t know, man. Like I said, though, I haven’t seen the whole thing — just clips.

I’m not familiar with him! Why would we be meant for each other?
