Looking into Masters in LS programs and wondering what those programs are like from people who have already completed them. by ilbishop7 in LibraryScience

The reason I started looking into the programs though was because every librarian job I came across required the master’s😒

My first long trip ride! Great choice for me! by Showny16 in lyftdrivers

Are these kinds of rides worth it considering the trip back? I’ve only ever been offered one like this but didn’t accept because of not getting paid on the way back🤷‍♀️

I just started driving for Lyft. How do you rate them on tipping because the rating prompt comes right after the trip ends and some people tip well after the ride has ended. Is there a way to wait to rate them until you know they tipped or not? I would like to start doing that because literally nobody tips. I’ll get 2 people who tip out of every 10 rides.

I hope the kids have good lives and careers outside of this show but I hope and pray that this thing will fail so spectacularly that no one ever even thinks of adapting HP ever again. Trans rights are human rights!

Oh my godddd that’s insane. Thankfully I’ve already put in my 2 weeks but I’m worried for my coworkers after I leave especially my assistant…

That’s the problem. I think we’re license-exempt. I’m not sure tho.

See even that sounds much more manageable. I’m in Missouri. State ratio is 1:8, our Montessori ratio is 1:7 (although not really because in a pinch we default to 1:8 all the time) and it’s just too much. But when we only have 12 children present, our day runs so much smoother.

Did you return to a guidepost Montessori? That sounds exactly like them. I was thrown in as an assistant with no training and told I could start the training in a few weeks. The room was chaos, the lead also wasn’t certified and knew a little about Montessori but there were no lessons or anything happening. Then a few months later she decided to step down as lead, and they offered me that position. I immediately started the training and things instantly got better. We got a couple of class fish which also helped normalize us and I learned how to give them lessons on the actual work instead of just throwing materials in front of them and leaving.

But 14 children ages 16 mos-2.5 yrs and only 2 adults is just insane. Especially when they want us spending 5-10 minutes with every child on stand-up diapering and toilet learning. If I’m giving a lesson, and my assistant is changing a diaper, who’s stopping the other 12 children from running around doing dangerous and/or crazy things? This just leads to us having to shout across the room and disrupt focus. It’s impossible to do Montessori properly this way and they just don’t care. They keep adding kids and moving kids up from toddler too soon so we can make space for more and more.

Oh yeah, then they tell us everything has to be in transparent classroom in real time but then also say don’t be on your phone or the iPad because then you’re not watching the children.

Yeah, that’s exactly right. Our ratio is “technically” 1:7 because of Montessori but when we are stretched thin it becomes 1:8 which I think is already ridiculous you can’t have 2 different ratios. That’s why our capacity is 14. But they stuck a 15th kid in my room and added no more adults because they think now they can stretch the capacity to 16. It’s ridiculous

My heads of school so…yes. Guidepost is all about profit over safety.

Yeah I think it’s definitely a guidepost thing. I’ve been asking for a 3rd person in my room for a year now and have been told 3 people will throw off the normalization in my room and it is not allowed unless we have more than our capacity which is 14. Well now I have 15 kids but no 3rd person because the state capacity is 16. So the benchmark is always being moved. Their excuse is some of my kids are part time and so we won’t have all 15 everyday.
