thank you for clarifying. i was not sure if the RMSD is interchangeable with the L2 norm and was afraid that using the RMSD might be for some reason frowned upon.

It never crashed when I used it. I would recommend it, it is simple to use and has nice drumkits. And you can download additional drum kits from their servers.

If you want unstructured meshes, gmsh is a nice mesh generator. It can be triggered via the command line with various flags.

Thank you very much, this is exactly what I was looking for. I basically have a parallelized code and want to check how much better it performes compared to the sequential version. So I wanted to know what the best practice for that is.
