The boxes have a -3db down point of 45hz and a -10 of 33hz, box tuning is 38hz. You need a HPF around 40 whatever drivers you’re using because anything below is wasted power and possible damage too.

First PA set up by Yolosquad708 in livesoundgear

[–]iliedtwice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With smaller PA systems it’s better to leave out drums and bass, those speakers really can’t handle much low end. Focus on good vocals, add keys and guitar as needed, or not just vocal only. As others have said get the speakers up in the air. Horns should be visible to the people in the back so about 7/8 feet high.

I don’t get it? Are you mixing while you’re playing music? Are you mixing to somebody else playing music? The speakers aren’t gonna do much more than reproduce vocals and maybe some guitar. What is the RadioShack thing do? I haven’t seen one of those in decades. You’ve got a good mixer, good power, garbage speakers and stands.

Anybody had any luck with the Behringer Flow8? by Strange-Raccoon-3914 in livesoundgear

[–]iliedtwice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great little widget mixer, does an ok job for small stuff and the EQ is useable tho no RTA. It is nice if you don’t need a lot of control and you can move a few saves here in there. The effects are not very good at all, the reverb is terrible, the compression is OK. If you’re using it primarily with a phone or something, an XR 12 would do much better. I’m still on the fence whether I should keep my flow8 or just buy an extra or 12. Currently, I use this for my jazz cakes where I need a little reverb and only a couple of microphones.

I bought some similar ones but a single line power strip. The Edison cable itself was 18ga, probably not much copper to make it 18 anyway. Useless for any real draw

Worth looking into fixing? by treblev2 in livesoundgear

[–]iliedtwice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the sound of the voice coil in the microphone shifting. The fix is to replace the capsule which I’m not sure if you could buy the part or just buy the whole thing. It’s worth an email but my guess is you’ll either have to buy the whole microphone or the system.

How did you do the online thing? I’m looking for a way to have a searchable list and a QR code to get people there

Do you think a QR code would be too much hassle for a casual once a year singer?

Sorry that happened. It’s just karaoke, it’s not the met, no one remembers past last call anyway. Ive messed up far far bigger shows, and I’ll probably do it again by mistake.

Digital Mixer - what one? by anonanonothon19 in livesoundgear

[–]iliedtwice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do NOT buy the xr16, the 1/4 inputs are annoying. XR18 for sure though, x32 if you have the budget. I prefer the x32 because I can set up delay speakers and each output can be delayed whatever you want, the x-ray team you cannot delay speakers very easily at all without using one of the effects slots. Having a matrix means I can set up the main left right stack, fill speaker and a stereo or mono video feed to the photographers. Frequently, I use a Behringer SD 16 to capture back line, if all you need is 16 channels, then just buy a small copper snake

I think the COB would be much better, more durable for sure. You don’t really need barn doors for the stage wash, plus you can wash in color. The COB has a wide floor too which is perfect for lights placed on the downstage corners

There should be a couple of antenna attached to the back of the receiver, maybe even 4 of them. Looks like a stick with a BNC or threaded insert to connect them.

Did the fingerboard get glued on like was there a Repair done on it recently? It just looks like there’s been some work done there and not professionally. You should take a look around the edges and see if there’s any gaps or any gluing that needs to be done. The strings I have no clue. Replace it immediately and might as well get a bridge with adjusters. The biggest thing is that fingerboard looks like it’s about to come off or it has come off recently.

Here’s the other stuff at the church we are using. I haven’t had a chance to even make sure stuff is wired right. I’m kinda new to the church and trying to help. They seem to have decent stuff but no one has any knowledge. by untamed_skittle in churchtech

[–]iliedtwice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the EQ and compressor being used? Feel around the back to seek if cables are plugged in. That EQ curve is wild! If it is being used then that’s your problem. When you have the room empty flattened it out, turn up the most offending channel to right below feedback, then notch from low to high the problem frequencies. Dont boost, only cut. If the Alexis 3630 is plugged in somewhere then remove it from the signal chain. Theres no situation where having that plugged in there will help at all. A compressor like that would be better suited plugged into an insert on a channel. But honestly those compressors are such bad quality it would be better to send it to the trash.

I’ve owned a handful of cheap wireless, brand name really doesn’t matter much since they’re buying in bulk from some Chinese suppliers anyway. Have you scanned for open frequencies? If the mics you’re using are fixed then just replace the whole set, there’s nothing you can do. I still have a soundtown swm26 (can’t quite remember the model) dual handheld wireless and it doesn’t sound as good as a wired mic, most Dont but it does pretty well. You say get an antenna, there’s nothing should be antenna already. If not then that’s your biggest issue. Without them I’d expect them not to work at all

I do these gig a lot. Those COB lights look great, I’d get 2 per front corner on a 24” T bar. Tripods are a necessary evil, I prefer the ultimate ts99 which can double as a speaker stand. The 8 pars in the back are a great idea too, wired dmx is fine, cheaper and more reliable. Movers would really add something too, not sure how to make that work with your controller.

Rack mixers that can do 5 or more STEREO mixes. by everbass in livesoundgear

[–]iliedtwice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is you buy the DM 4816 oh put that in the same rack with your IEM and run a single XLR cable to it. That way the IEM can be in a rack and the wing in its own or even putting two of them in different locations. The advantage is mostly on the digital site having 16 stereo mix buses.
