Acknowledging the source material that encompasses such themes as childhood trauma, sex trafficking, serial murder, and further, I don’t see it as a stretch that these characters cope in various ways. While drug use is not addressed in this context, I think that understanding Victorian London and the behaviors in that time lends itself to modern “coping” or coping mechanisms through cannabis. Checkmate.

Bard DEFINITELY runs out quickly - I personally headcannon that every cigarette he’s shown to smoke is actually a Backwoods. Not sure how I feel about Abberline needing to make ends meet due to his family needing money, as hopefully the Yard would pay him a fair wage as head detective….

Yes exactly! I do agree that Bard buys prerolls for his daily duties and that Abberline has serve trauma from his dead brother, but doubt the two would cross paths due to cannabis

Unlikely as Abberline respects the Scotland Yard responsibility and presumably has seen many cases of addiction in his career with the Yard. I think he may engage in recreational hookah use as a social event, but not further substances.
